SC Arson Statistics: Arson is down slightly so far this year. SLED’s Arson Team reported the following for activity through 9/30/07:

160 Arson Cases Received (135 cases by this time – 2006 -149 cases by this time in 2005)

Approx. 20% of the 2007 Arson cases have been cleared by arrest $ 2,385,600 in property loss has been investigated so far this year

 

Darlington (14) & Oconee (13) counties have the highest number of requests to SLED with Cherokee County not far behind with (12) requests. The majority of the requests are for residences and businesses. 

Over 1,700 calls have been received so far this year by the SC Arson Hotline. During 2006 there were over 2,000 calls.
