Antennas and Couplers1


Integrated antennas All MPT have the same kind of antenna interface as AWY; so previous AWY or Mélodie

antennas can be reused. New antennas have been created for frequencies not used previously: 6 GHz and 11 GHz

Not integrated antennas Obviously, this kind of antennas can be reused. MPT is connected to the antenna through an adaptation (the so-called “nose”) and a

flextwist. MPT Nose and flextwist are the same as with AWY/Mélodie

Unchanged interface gives compatibility with previous AWY aerials.

Same couplers as AWY AWY couplers are also used for MPT thanks to the unchanged interface. Two types.

• Face to face at 11GHz and above• Up and down from 6 to 8 GHz

Expanded family we are now offering all the couplers in 3 dB and 10 dB. frequency bands:

6 GHz 7/8 GHz 11 GHz 13-15 GHz 18-25 GHz 28-38 GHz

Unchanged interface allows compatibility with AWY couplers.

MPT-HC cat5e

o Cat5e cable is made on site according to desired length.

o The cat5e cable and the coaxial cable use the same grounding kits.

o Watertightness thanks to a nut on the cobox.


MPT-HC fiber

o The fiber cord is made in factory at different lengths, with the nut in place

o optionnally, supports for overlengths can be provided

MPT-HC 1+1 optical cord ODC-ODC

o Due to the high bit rate, it is necessary to have a direct connection between two MPT in 1+1 configuration.

o This cord exists in three lengths to allow space diversity.

o In case of maintenance on one ODU, the ODC-ODC cord can be removed without having to open the cobox of the other ODU.


Power Extractor

o The power extractor is a kit including the power and data jumpers towards MPT, as well as a R2CT protection for the cat5e cable from the MSS.

o All three ports are protected against lightning.

o The R2CT is shown above in the open and closed positions.


MPT-MC

o Cat5e cable is made on site according to desired length, it transports both power and data.

o Watertightness thanks to the R2CT connector (same as on Power extractor).

Brackets for rack mounting

MSS-1c: 2 possibilities

one or two units horizontally (height 1,3 U). This same bracket is used for Power injector box

one unit (height 1U)

MSS4/8: usual small brackets (« ears ») on each side MSS4/8: usual small brackets (« ears ») on each side


Power cables

A 4m equipped cord is delivered with MSS4/8. Suitable up to the maximum capacity of 12 MPT

In the rare cases where this length is not sufficient, cable and connector can be ordered separately.

MSS-1c

A 2x1 mm² cable is required, it is cut at the desired length on site and screwed on the front panel connector.

Tributary cords Dsub37 for E1 75 ohms MSS-1c and MSS4/8 1+0

They are the standard tributaries cables already used with Mélodie and AWY 16 E1

They can be used with MSS-1c, and also with MSS4/8 in combination with a Y cord.

Short cables with connectors for integrated DDF, or long cables w/o coax connectors for distant DDF.

Simplified services in case of swap from AWY/Mélodie to MPR/MPT

Few equipment to be uninstalled (IDU and ODU)

No need to assemble, haul and align (time consuming !) a new antenna

The E1 tributary cables, with their connection to a DDF can be kept.

On average, the installation and commissioning of a new link is reduced by 40% when reusing AWY installation material.
