what's new /slices: desert ridge
BY KIMBERLY LIBY PHOTOGRAPHY BY ASHLEY PAUL
One of life's greatest pleasures is pizza by the slice. But if you grew up in Arizona, you're probably not familiar with
small, neighborhood pie joints — unless you've been to Slices. After their success with restaurants in Tempe and
Scottsdale, co-owners Rodd Kestenbaum and Steve Nielson recently opened the third bistro in their Valley chain at
Desert Ridge Marketplace. The theme, "A slice of urban living," inspired the development of their establishment, fit with
an open-air patio, modern decor and plenty of stool seating. Kestenbaum and Nielsen, both Boston natives, succeed
again in bringing an East Coast neighborhood pizzeria concept to the Southwest. (Slices' giant, delicious pies became an
instant hit with ASU college students and hungry Old Town clubgoers just a few years back.) Serving some of the best
white cheese pizza in town (including our favorite: Potato Pizza with potatoes, bacon, cheddar and chives), this Valley
staple is sure to find a following on the westside.
