1.2 9740 WAC Cluster Basic Hardware Architecture9740 WAC architecture is mainly based on cluster concept. WAC server linkedtogether and to same assembly of switches constitute a "WAC cluster".

Figure 1: General Hardware Architecture of the 9740 WAC Cluster

Note: For redundancy, WAC server have in fact Ethernet links connected to differentswitches. The Figure 1 shows the general architecture with redundancy links.Without redundancy only one link of WAC is connected to each part of thecorresponding switch:

One link to WAC switch for 9710 C-WBS on the left side

One link to WAC switch for CN on the right side.

Note: For details regarding the HW used in this configurations see 9740 WACCabinet Description.

  • 1 Introduction

A WAC Cluster as a whole is made of WAC Servers and WAC Switches.Switches in a standalone or a stack configuration, with regard to the ClusterConfiguration, are configured by the WAC Servers in a WAC Cluster. A WACSwitch cannot be shared by 2 WAC Clusters or by any other equipment. All theSwitch ports are used and designed for a specific behavior as described inthe relevant documentation. Moreover, it is forbidden to launch on the WACServer any SW Application for which this equipment is not designed. Only HWconfigurations defined in the relevant documentation are authorized.

  • 1 Introduction

1.3 9740 WAC Basic Software Architecture

Figure 2: General Platform Software Overview of the 9740 WAC

The 9740 WAC Platform software internal structure covers the following parts:

OS Service Daemons The existing OS services that WAC can rely on.They include:

HTTP server with securitySFTP serverSNMP daemon with securitySSH2 daemon in WAC.

Common Platform Service It defines the common service interfaces forthe upper layer 9740 WAC applications. It covers the:

Buffer managementTimer managementTrace managementInter-process communication management, etc.

The common service is provided as a library for the 9740 WAC application.

Equipment Management It is used to supply the WAC hardware(DELL Servers) supervision and directs the hardware alarm notification tothe OAM-FM.

The OS Service Daemons covers the service provided by the OS (Linux). They include the HTTP server with security, SFTP daemon, SSH2 daemonand SNMP daemon (SNMP Master Agent daemon for WAC DELL Server HWmanagement). It is implemented by Net-SNMP v5.1.2 (included in RedHatLinux ES4).
