    SOFTWARE LICENSE AGREEMENT

    Aastra Telecom Inc., hereinafter known as "Seller", grants to Customer apersonal, worldwide, non-transferable, non-sublicenseable and non-exclu-sive, restricted use license to use Software in object form solely with theEquipment for which the Software was intended. This Product may inte-

    grate programs, licensed to Aastra by third party Suppliers, for distributionunder the terms of this agreement. These programs are confidential andproprietary, and are protected as such by copyright law as unpublishedworks and by international treaties to the fullest extent under the applica-ble law of the jurisdiction of the Customer. In addition, these confidentialand proprietary programs are works conforming to the requirements ofSection 401 of title 17 of the United States Code. Customer shall not dis-close to any third party such confidential and proprietary programs andinformation and shall not export licensed Software to any country except in

    accordance with United States Export laws and restrictions.

    Customer agrees to not reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or dis-play Software furnished in object code form. Customer shall not modify,copy, reproduce, distribute, transcribe, translate or reduce to electronicmedium or machine readable form or language, derive source code with-out the express written consent of the Seller and its Suppliers, or dissemi-nate or otherwise disclose the Software to third parties. All Software

    furnished hereunder (whether or not part of firmware), including all copiesthereof, are and shall remain the property of Seller and its Suppliers andare subject to the terms and conditions of this agreement. All rightsreserved.

    Customer's use of this software shall be deemed to reflect Customer'sagreement to abide by the terms and conditions contained herein. Removalor modification of trademarks, copyright notices, logos, etc., or the use ofSoftware on any Equipment other than that for which it is intended, or any

    other material breach of this Agreement, shall automatically terminate thislicense. If this Agreement is terminated for breach, Customer shall imme-diately discontinue use and destroy or return to Seller all licensed softwareand other confidential or proprietary information of Seller. In no eventshall Seller or its suppliers or licensors be liable for any damages whatso-ever (including without limitation, damages for loss of business profits,business interruption, loss of business information, other pecuniary loss, orconsequential damages) arising out of the use of or inability to use the soft-ware, even if Seller has been advised of the possibility of such damages.

    IntroductionThe 9112i IP telephone has all thefeatures of a regular businessphone, allowing you to make andreceive calls, transfer, conferenceand more. The 9112i IP telephoneprovides communication over an

    IP Network using the SIP IPtelephony protocol.

    Access to a configuration serverwhere you can store the firm-ware image and configurationfiles.The configuration server mustbe able to accept connections

    anonymously. The IP phone must be config-

    ured for a specific type of proto-col to use. (TFTP is enabled bydefault). You can configure thefollowing protocols on the IPphone:

    tarted Getting Started

    The 9112i must be set up andconfigured prior to its first use.This section describes phonebehaviour and start up screens youmay see when the phone is first

    plugged in,or when it is restarted.

    When You First Plug in YourPhoneThe 9112i automatically begins thestart up sequence as soon as it isconnected. The phone goesthrough this process the first timeyou plug in your phone and everytime you restart your phone. Thefirst screen the phone displays isthe Aastra splash screen.

    Updating Your PhoneAfter displaying the Aastra splashscreen, the 9112i checks settingsand looks for new configurationand firmware updates for thephone from the server. If a newupdate is found, the phonedisplays the message UpdatingConfig or New Firmware. Thismay take a few moments while thephone downloads the latestupdates.

    Note: New updates to your phone canbe automatically scheduled fromthe server. This is set up on thephone system by your system

    administrator and should bescheduled during non-businesshours or slow call periods.

    Important! Do not unplug or removepower to the phone while it is checkingor installing firmware.Start up ScreensAfter the phone displays theAastra splash screen or after

    downloading an update (if anupdate was available), the phonedisplays the Idle State screen:

    The basic Idle State screen listsyour name, extension, and today'sdate and time. This screen isshown whenever your phone is notin use.

    Incomplete Config.If your phone displays a

    No Service

    message without anyextension or user name at the endof the start up sequence instead ofthe Idle State screen, this meansyour system administrator has notset up your extension correctly.Contact your system administratorfor assistance.

    No ServiceThe No Service or Networkdisconnected prompt appears onthe display and the telephonestatus light turns on when thephone is not properly connected tothe network, or the account has notbeen configured by theadministrator. The phone alsodisplays the default time and dateof 12:00am Jan. 1st, 2000. Checkthat the cables are tightlyconnected to the phone and to thewall jack.

    The phone should automaticallydetect when the connection isreconnected and will display theNetwork Connected prompttemporarily. If changes have beenmade to your phone settings, youmay need to restart your phone.For more information on restartingyour phone, see "Restarting yourphone" on page 15.

    For more information aboutconnecting your phone, refer to the

    Aastra 9112i Installation Guideunder the section "Connecting tothe Network and to Power". Checkwith your system administrator forassistance.

    Setting Your OptionsPressing theI buttongives you a list of configurableoptions.

    These options allow you to

    customize your phone settings.

    The "Network Settings" and "SIPSettings" selections areadministrator level options, andrequire an administrator passwordto access. Setting defaults under"Phone Status" also requires anadministrator password. Theseoptions should only be set up andchanged by your systemadministrator.

    You can access the 9112i phonesoptions using the Aastra Web UI.

    In order to access the AastraWeb UI, you will need to know theIP address of your phone.

    Finding Your Phones IP Address

    1. Press theI button onthe phone to enter the Option

    List.2. Use theV key to scroll downthe list of options to

    Phone Status and press theUkey to select.

    3. Select "Network Port" and presstheU key.The IP address of your 9112i IPphone displays in the "IPAddress" field.

    Accessing the Aastra Web UI

    1. Open your web browser andenter the phones IP address orhost name into the address field.

    2. At the prompt, enter your user-name and password and click

    .

    Note: For a user, the default user nameis user and the password fieldis left blank.

    The Network Status window dis-

    plays for the IP phone you areaccessing.

    3. You can logout of the AastraWeb UI at any time by clickingLOGOFF.

    The following categories display inthe side menu of the Aastra WebUI: Status, Operation, BasicSettings.StatusThe Status section displays thenetwork status and the MACaddress of the IP phone. It alsodisplays hardware and firmwareinformation about the IP phone.The information in the NetworkStatus window is read-only.

    OperationThe Operation section provides thefollowing options:

    - User Password - Allows you tochange user password

    - Programmable Keys - Allowsyou to configure up to 2programmable keys for aspecific function (speeddial, donot disturb (DND), ExtensibleMarkup Lanaguage (XML),flash, park, and pickup).

    - Directory - Allows you to copythe Callers List and DirectoryList from your IP phone toyour PC.

    - Reset - Allows you to restartthe IP phone when required.

    Basic SettingsThe Basic Settings section providesthe following options:

    - Preferences - Allows you to setsuppression of DTMFplayback, set incomingintercom settings, enable/

    disable call waiting tone andstuttered dial tone, and setglobal tone set and ring tone.

    - Call Forward - Allows you toset a phone numberdestination for where you wantcalls forwarded.

    User PasswordThis category allows you to changethe web-access password for yourphone. Changing your passwordensures that only you can alteryour phone settings, and helpskeep your system secure. You canchange your user password usingthe IP phone UI or the Aastra Web

    UI.

    1. PressI on the phone toenter the Options List.

    2. Select User Password andpressU.

    3. Enter the current user passwordand pressU.

    4. Enter the new user passwordand pressU.

    5. Re-enter the new user passwordand pressU.A message, "PasswordChanged" displays on thescreen.

    1. Click on Operation->UserPassword.

    2. In the "Current Password" field,enter the current user password.

    Note: By default, the user name isuser (all lowercase) and thepassword field is left blank. Ifyou have forgotten your pass-word, contact your systemadministrator for assistance.

    3. In the "New Password" field,enter the new user password.

    4. In the "Password Confirm"field, enter the new user pass-word again.

    5. Click to save yourchanges.

    The following sections describe thevarious 9112i phone key functions,and how they help you make andmanage your calls and callerinformation.

    Hard KeysThe following hard keys labeled onyour phone are configured for thecall handling features:

    Setting a Key for"Do Not Disturb" (DND)The IP phones have a feature youcan enable called "Do not Disturb(DND). The DND function allowsyou to turn "do not disturb" ON

    and OFF.If DND is ON, callers calling intothe phone hear a busy signal or amessage, depending on how yoursystem administrator set up theconfiguration server. The secondline on the screen of the IP phoneshows when DND is set.

    If the phone shares a line withother phones, only the phone thathas DND configured is affected.

    You can set DND on theprogrammable keys using theAastra Web UI only. DND is not

    configurable from the IP phone UI.

    1. Click on Operation->Programmable Keys.

    2. Select "Hard Key 1" or "HardKey 2".3. In the "Type" field, select do notdisturb to apply to the program-

    mable key.

    4. Click to save yourchanges.

    5. Click on Operation->Reset.6. In the "Restart Phone" field

    click to restart the IPphone.

    Setting a "Flash Key"You can set a programmable key togenerate a flash event when it ispressed on the 9112i. You do thisby setting the programmable keyto "flash". The IP phone generatesflash events only when a call isconnected and there is an activeRTP stream (for example, when the

    call is not on hold).

    1 Click onOperation->Programmable Keys.

    2 Select a "Hard Key 1" through"Hard Key 7".3 In the "Type" field, select flash.

    4 Click to save yourchanges.

    The 9112i IP phone has a featureyou can enable called "XML"(Extensible Markup Language).

    Setting a programmable key toXML allows you to access specialservices set up by your systemadministrator. These servicesinclude things like weather andtraffic reports, contact information,company info, stock quotes, orcustom call scripts. Contact yoursystem administrator for moreinformation.

    You can set a programmable keyon the 9112i phone to use XMLusing the Aastra Web UI.However, the XML services mustbe set up by your systemadministrator before you can usethe key. Contact your systemadministrator for more

    information.

    1. Click on Operation->Programmable Keys.

    2. Select "Hard Key 1" or "HardKey 2".3. In the "Type" field, select xml to

    apply to the programmable key.

    4. In the "Value" field, enter the IPaddress of the XML application.

    Note: Contact your system administra-tor for the appropriate value to

    enter in the "Value" field.5. Click to save yourchanges.

    6. Click on Operation->Reset.7. In the "Restart Phone" field

    click to restart the IPphone.

    Accessing the XML ServiceAfter a system administrator hascreated and saved an XMLapplication to your IP phone, thecustomized service is ready for youto use.

    Note: The programmable key on yourphone must be set to "XML".

    1. Press the programmable keyconfigured for XML on the 9112i

    phone.A "Custom Features" screendisplays (or a title configured byyour system administrator).

    2. Use ther ands to scrollthrough the customized fea-tures.

    3. For menu and directory services,select a service to display the

    information for that customizedservice.Message services display to thescreen after pressing the pro-grammable key.For user input services, followthe prompts as appropriate.

    4. To exit from the "CustomizedFeatures" screen, press the XMLprogrammable key again.

    Setting "Park/Pickup" KeysThe 9112i phone has a park andpickup call feature that allows youto park a call and pickup a callwhen required.

    The IP phones support the Park/

    Pickup feature on the Asterisk,BroadWorks, Sylantro, and ININPBX servers.

    You can set the programmablekeys on the 9112i to use the park/pickup feature by setting aprogrammable key as "Park" or"Pickup" and then:

    specify a valueNote: The values you enter for eachsoftkey are dependent on thetype of server you are using(Asterisk, BroadWorks, Sylantro,or ININ PBX).

    The park/pickup feature performsas follows:

    When a call comes in, and youpickup the handset, you canpress the applicable "Park" pro-grammable key to park the call.

    After the call is parked, you canpress the "Pickup" programma-ble key, followed by the applica-ble value to pickup the call.

    You configure a Park and Pickupprogrammable configuration usingthe Aastra Web UI.

    The following table provides thevalues you enter for the "ParkCall" and "Pickup Parked Call"fields in the Aastra Web UI.

    *Leave "value" fields blank to disable the park and pickup feature.Configuring Park/PickupUse the following procedure toconfigure park/pickup on the 9112i

    phone.

    1. Click on Operation->Programmable Keys and XML..

    3. In the "Type" field, select Park.4. In the "Value" field, enter the

    approriate value based on theserver in your network.

    ammableKeys Using the Park Call/PickupParked Call Feature

    Use the following procedure on theIP phones to park a call and pickup a parked call.

    Park a Call1. While on a live call, press the

    "Park" softkey.2. Perform the following for your

    specific server:

    If the call is parked successfully,

    the response is either a greetingvoice confirming that the callwas parked, or a hang upoccurs. The parked call partywill get music on hold.

    3. If the call fails, you can pick upthe call (using the next proce-dure) and press the "Park" soft-key again to retry step 2.

    Pickup a Parked Call1. Pick up the handset on the

    phone.

    2. Enter the extension numberwhere the call was parked.

    3. Press the "Pickup" softkey.If the call pick up is successful,you are connected with theparked call.

    For Asterisk Server

    - Server announces the extensionnumber where the call has beenparked. Once the call is parked,

    press theNkey to completeparking.

    For BroadWorks Server- After you hear the greeting from

    the CallPark server, enter theextension where you want to parkthe call.

    For Sylnatro Server- Enter the extension number whereyou want to park the call, followed

    by "#" key.For ININ Server- Enter the extension number where

    you want to park the call, followedby "#" key.

    Restartingyour

    phone Restarting your phone

    You may want to restart yourphone to check for updates foryour phone on the server. You mayoccasionally need to restart yourphone to set changes or updates to

    your phone or network settings.You may also need to restart yourphone if you have been asked to doso by your system administrator, orshould you experience any

    unexpected behaviour.

    1. Press theI button onthe phone to enter the OptionList.

    2. Use theV key to scroll downthe list of options to Phone Sta-

    tus and press theU key toselect.

    3. Press theV key to scroll tothe Restart Phone option.

    4. Press theU key to confirm andrestart the phone. If you do notwish to restart your phone,

    press theT key to cancel.Note: Your phone will be out of service

    temporarily during the restartand downloading process.

    You can also restart your phone

    through the Aastra Web UI.

    1. Click on Operation->Reset.

    2. Click .3. ClickOK at the confirmation

    prompt.

    MakingCalls

    Making CallsThis section describes ways tomake calls on your 9112i phone,using your handset, speakerphone,or headset.

    Dialing a NumberFirst, take the phone off-hook bylifting the handset, or by pressingq. At the dial tone, enterthe number you wish to call.     Using Handsfree SpeakerphoneThe Handsfree feature allows youto speak to someone without usingthe handset or headset. Yourphone must be in either the

    Speaker, Speaker/Headset orHeadset/Speaker Audio Mode.You can set your desired audiomode through #7. HeadsetSettings in the Options list. Formore information, see the section"Customizing Your Phone" in the9112i Installation Guide.

    To dial using handsfree, first

    pressq and enter anumber at the dial tone.

    To answer a call on your phoneusing handsfree, pressq.

    If you are in Speaker audiomode, lift the handset and pressq to switch betweenhandsfree and handset.

    If you are in Speaker/Headset

    audio mode, pressqto switch between handsfreeand headset.

    When handsfree is on, thespeaker light turns on.

    Using a HeadsetThe 9112i accepts headsets throughthe modular RJ9 jack on the back ofthe phone. Contact your telephone

    equipment retailer or distributor topurchase a compatible headset.

    Note: Customers should read andobserve all safety recommenda-tions contained in headset oper-ating guides when using anyheadset.

    4. PressNto end the call.Incoming Intercom CallsOn the 9112i, you can receiveincoming intercom calls only. By

    default, the microphone for anincoming intercom call is OFF, andthe automatic answer for anintercom call is ON.

    Using the Aastra Web UI, you canenable (turn ON) or disable (turnOFF) the microphone or automaticanswering (auto-answer) on the IP

    phone for incoming intercom calls.If auto-answer is enabled on the IPphone, the phone plays a tone toalert the user before answering theintercom call. If auto-answer isdisabled, the phone rejects theincoming intercom call and sends abusy signal to the caller.

    Enabling/Disabling M icrophoneand Auto-AnswerUse the following procedure toenable/disable the microphoneand/or auto-answer on the IP

    phone.

    1. Click on Basic Settings->Prefer-ences->Incoming IntercomSettings.

    The "Microphone Mute" field isenabled by default (turnedOFF).

    The "Auto-Answer" field isenabled by default (turned ON).

    The Swap KeyWhile youre on the phone, if thereis a second incoming call, pressingo places the current call onhold and answers the incoming

    call. Pressingo again togglesbetween the two active calls. Athird call cannot be accepted.While in a call with no other

    Placing a Call on HoldWhen you place a call on hold,only your phone can retrieve the

    2. Press the HoldO key.Your telephone set indicator lightin the upper right corner of yourphone will flash steadily to remindyou that you still have a call onhold. The screen will display "Call

    When on HoldTo let your caller know that theyare still on hold, music plays softly(if this has been set up for yoursystem).

    Automatic HoldWhen juggling between calls, youdo not have to press the holdbutton to go from one call to the

    next. The phone will automaticallyput your current call on hold as

    soon as you presso. Useo to toggle back and forthbetween held calls.

    Transferring CallsBlind TransferA blind transfer is when youtransfer a call directly to anotherextension without consulting withthe person receiving the call. To dothis, simply complete the transferimmediately after you haveentered the number. The call goesdirectly to the extension or outsideline you transferred to. If the partyyou are transferring the call to doesnot answer, the transferred callrings back to your extension.

    You also have the option to consultwith the person you aretransferring the call to, before youcomplete the transfer. To do this,simply remain on the line until the

    receiving party answers the call.After consulting with the receivingparty, you can either complete thetransfer or cancel the transfer to go

    back to the original call.

    To transfer a call to another exten-sion:1. Connect to the call you wish to

    transfer (if not already con-nected).

    2. Pressk . You willhear a dial tone as a second line

    opens up.3. Enter the extension number ofthe person you wish to transferthe call to, or dial the outsidenumber of the person you wishto transfer the call to.

    4. To complete a "blind" transfer,pressk again beforethe phone begins dialing. Tocomplete a consultive transfer,remain on the line to speak withthe party before pressingk again. To cancelthe transfer, select Cancel on thedisplay screen.

    5. To go back to the original call,presso. Pressingowill alternate between the twoactive calls.

    Conferencing CallsThe 9112i phone system supportsup to 3 parties (including yourself)in a conference call.

    Note: Your system administrator canset your Conf key to speedial aspecific number. Contact yoursystem administrator for moreinformation.

    To create a conference call1. Connect to the first party you

    wish to include in the confer-ence (if not already connected).

    2. Pressl. The phoneplaces the current call on holdand opens a new line.

    3. Enter the extension number, ordial the outside number of theperson you wish to add to theconference.

    4. If there is no answer, or if youpresso, the call isdropped and the original call isre-activated.

    5. If the second party answers, youmay speak to the person and

    use theo button to togglebetween calls. Pressingl again will completethe conference.

    Callers ListThe 9112i telephone storesinformation on up to 200 incomingcalls in the Callers list. Yourtelephone logs the number andname (if available) of the caller,

    when they last called, and thenumber of times they tried to reachyou. When the Callers list is full,the oldest call records are deletedto accommodate the information ofnew callers.

    If the telephone number of anincoming or outgoing call matchesa number that you haveprogrammed with a name in aprogrammable key or theDirectory, the Callers list willdisplay the name and number.

    Suppressing DTMF PlaybackA feature on the IP phones allowsyou to enable or disable thesuppression of DTMF playbackwhen a number is dialed from theprogrammable keys.

    When suppression of DTMFplayback is disabled, and you pressa programmable key, the IP phonedials the stored number anddisplays each digit as dialed in theLCD window.

    When the suppression of DTMFplayback is enabled, the IP phonedials the stored number anddisplays the entire numberimmediately in the LCD window,allowing the call to be dialed faster.

    DTMF playback suppression isdisabled by default. SuppressingDTMF playback can be configuredusing the Aastra Web UI.

    When you set the language to useon the phone, all of the display

    Note: By default, the user name isuser (all lowercase) and thepassword field is left blank. Ifyou have forgotten your pass-word, contact your systemadministrator for assistance.

    4. In the "Password Confirm"field, enter the new user pass-word again.

    Why does my phone display"Bad Encrypted Config"?The IP phone displays "BadEncrypted Config" becauseencrypted configuration files areenabled but the decryption processhas failed.

    How do I restart the IP phone?

    1. Press theI button onthe phone to enter the OptionList.

    2. Use theV key to scroll downthe list of options to Phone Sta-

    tus and press theU key toselect.

    3. Press theV key to scroll tothe Restart Phone option.

    4. Press theU key to confirm andrestart the phone. If you do notwish to restart your phone,

    press theT key to cancel.Note: Your phone will be out of service

    Limited WarrantyAastra Telecom warrants thisproduct against defects andmalfunctions during a one (1) yearperiod from the date of originalpurchase. If there is a defect or

    malfunction, Aastra Telecom shall,at its option, and as the exclusiveremedy, either repair or replacethe telephone set at no charge, ifreturned within the warrantyperiod.

    If replacement parts are used inmaking repairs, these parts may berefurbished, or may containrefurbished materials.If it is necessary to replace thetelephone set, it may be replacedwith a refurbished telephone of thesame design and color. If it shouldbecome necessary to repair orreplace a defective ormalfunctioning telephone set

    under this warranty, the provisionsof this warranty shall apply to therepaired or replaced telephone setuntil the expiration of ninety (90)days from the date of pick up, orthe date of shipment to you, of therepaired or replacement set, oruntil the end of the originalwarranty period, whichever is

    later. Proof of the original purchasedate is to be provided with alltelephone sets returned forwarranty repairs.

    ExclusionsAastra Telecom does not warrantits telephone sets to be compatiblewith the equipment of any

    particular telephone company.This warranty does not extend todamage to products resulting fromimproper installation or operation,alteration, accident, neglect, abuse,misuse, fire or natural causes suchas storms or floods, after thetelephone is in your possession.

    Aastra Telecom shall not be liablefor any incidental or consequentialdamages, including, but notlimited to, loss, damage or expensedirectly or indirectly arising fromthe customers use of or inability touse this telephone, eitherseparately or in combination withother equipment.
