Operation Christmas Child: Will you fill a box this year and make a child

happy, as well as introduce them to Christ? Boxes and information folders

with BOY-GIRL labels are in the east and west narthexes. Be sure

to follow the instructions about items to include and those that cannot be

included, such as candy. Filled boxes need to be brought to Mt. Zion on

The BWC's chapter of the Wesleyan Covenant Association is holding its

Fall Gathering of Worship and Fellowship on Sunday, Nov. 10, at 4 p.m., at

First UMC in Laurel. Refreshments will follow the worship. For more

Daylight Savings Time Reminder! Turn your clocks back one hour before

midnight on November 2.

All Saints Sunday: On November 3rd, we will remember our church members

and loved ones who have gone to be with the Lord over the past year

(November 4, 2018 – October 27, 2019). Please write the name of your loved

one on the pink information sheet found inside the Sunday bulletin and

underneath indicate your relationship to him or her. You can also contact the

church office by October 29th, so that we can place your loved one’s name in

the PowerPoint presentation for the service. On Sunday, November 3rd, we

will lift up each name during worship as we remember our loved ones in the

hope of the Resurrection through our Lord Jesus Christ.

UMM hike for all men and women, members and friends of Mt. Zion.

Join us on Saturday, Nov. 9 for a 2.5-hour hike of moderate difficulty in the

McKeldin area of Patapsco Valley State Park with lunch to follow at Double T

Diner opposite old Enchanted Forest. Meet in west lot of Mt. Zion parking lot

at 8:30 AM..

Fellowship Paint Party in Fellowship Hall, Sunday, November 10, 3:00 -

Winter coats, hats, and gloves for Ames UMC in West Baltimore: We are

collecting items for those in need in Baltimore City. Drop off new or gently

used items in the collection bin located in the west narthex through Friday,

November 22nd. Items will be distributed during the Thanksgiving community

outreach event at Ames UMC on Saturday, November 23rd.

Thanksgiving Basket and Winter Clothing Giveaway Event at Ames UMC

in West Baltimore: We are looking for volunteers to help assemble

Thanksgiving meal baskets, organize clothing donations, and distribute these

items during the community outreach event on Saturday November 23rd. Also

looking for volunteers with a pick-up truck, van, minivan, or large SUV to help

transport food from the MD Food Bank to Ames UMC on Friday November

The Committee on Lay Leadership (Nominating Committee) meets

monthly to explore how we can match people’s skills to engage in ministry

Please note the Open Doors Food Pantry Fall Distribution Dates (not the

regular 3rd Saturday dates): Nov. 23 and Dec.14.

Mount Zion is partnering with the International Rescue Committee and

their Welcome Home Project. We will completely prepare an apartment

for a newly arriving refugee family. These families arrive with very little and

have a short time span to become self-sufficient. If you are able to help, we

need donations of household goods and furniture, and volunteers to store

large items, collect and deliver items, shop for additional items, and set up

SAGE Brigade: Friends-Giving Celebration! Friday, Nov. 8th we will

celebrate Thanksgiving with our Mt. Zion friends. I will bring the turkey and

ask you to bring a Thanksgiving favorite to share. Rachel Vogel, Elder Care

Attorney will present the Four Essential Legal Documents Everyone Should

Have. It will be a delicious meal and an informative presentation. All are

welcome, as always. Please RSVP to Debbie Burgio. I would love to know

how much turkey to bring.

The Youth are collecting NEW and GENTLY USED items suitable for

children to give as Christmas gifts to family members and NEW PET TOYS

for those furry brothers and sisters. Our Youth Elves will wrap the items to

be sold inexpensively at the Santa's Secret Workshop during Breakfast

with Santa on December 7. We also ask for donations of WRAPPING

PAPER, CHRISTMAS BAGS, BOWS & INVISIBLE TAPE. Collection

bins will be available in the west narthex and the church office until, Dec. 1.
