Find Your Voice(Discover your voice)
To find your voice means to engage in work that
genuinely taps your talents and fuels your
passion. It means to do something significant
with your careerto sense an unmet need and
then to fully harness all your talents and passion
to meet that need. To find your voice means to
take the path to greatness rather than settlingfor mediocrity.

Express Your VoiceAll of historys greatest achievers have only one thing in common. Through long-
term effort and intensive inner struggle, they have greatly expanded their talents,
passions, needs and conscience. By doing this, they have enhanced the power of
their voices

In order to express your voice moredecisively and distinctively, you need to
work at building your capacities in eachof these four dimensions:
1. Vision being able to see a future state in your minds eye before itmaterializes in the flesh. Vision is simply applied imagination, as most things arecreated mentally before being brought into physical reality
2. Discipline which is effectively willpower embodied.Discipline is needed to actually make things happen. To be disciplined means to
accept reality, become totally immersed in the facts and then move forward fromthere.
3. Passion the unrelenting drive which comes from the heart. People withpassion are motivational to be with because they believe the best way to predictthe future is to take part in shaping it.
4. Conscience your moral sense of whats right and whats wrong. Everyreligion and every culture of the world has an accepted set of values whichdictates a sense of fairness and the concepts of honesty, respect and contribution.

For an Organization to express its voice,
its leaders must fulfill these roles:
13
1. MODELLING: For any organization to work in a perfect waythe most important factor is to have faith and trust upon each other.
it is very important for a leader to be a model both in character andcompetence. Just in fruit of trustworthiness of both people and
organization. The personal character plays a vital role in trust upon
someone.
2. PATH FINDING: The organisation must jointly develop aviable strategy which will allow it to move from where it is now to
where it wants to be in the future. Path finding creates order
without demanding it.

14
3. ALIGNING: The organisation has to put in placestructures, processes and systems which will engender the
behaviour which is desired and keep everyone on course. Aligning
produces a form of institutionalised moral authority to act.
Alignment nourishes both vision and empowerment without
enshrining them as imperatives.
4.EMPOWERING: Focusing the organisations talent onthe results needed rather than the methods used and then getting
out of peoples way. Empowering is all about execution. In an
empowered organisation, leaders give help and direction only when
requested. Empowerment unleashes human potential without
externally motivating it.

1. Expand Your Influence Before you respond to a situation, decide whether or how to use the voice of
influence. The boss may be a jerk, but you can choose your response. The keyquestion: Whats the best thing you can do under these circumstances? You choosewhich level of initiative to use on the basis of how far the task lies within or outsideyour circle ofinfluence. This choice takes sensitivity andjudgment, but graduallyyour circle will expand.

Blending Voices: Searching for
The Third Alternative
The third alternative is a higher middle
position, better than either of the other two
ways. Its a product of creative effort. It
emerges from our willingness to really listen. We dont know where its going to end up. All
we know is that itll be better than it is now.

One Voice: Pathfinding Shared
Vision, Values and Strategy
Pathfinding is uniting diverse people into
one voice, one great purpose. One way to do
this would be to announce the vision, values
and strategy to people, without any realinvolvement on their part. or to reasonably
involve people in the process of developing
the vision, mission and strategy, in a culture oftrust.
