PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Thank you to everyone who contributed to the P&C’s successful Election Day BBQ that was held on the weekend. Our P&C committee members do an amazing job coordinating these fundraising events and our community are always there to support. Whether it be baking a cake, volunteering time or buying a sausage … every little bit counts and it is what makes our school and wider community so great! Last Sunday, I made my way to Wagga High School’s gym to see our dance group rehearse. All I can say is ‘WOW’! Mrs Fisher and Miss Saddler have done an amazing job and all the hard work put in by the team has paid off. Fingers crossed that their audition video will be successful for inclusion into the Riverina Dance Festival, which is to be held next term in Griffith. I am pleased to confirm that our school will be participating in Quality Teaching Rounds, an exciting new research project on teacher professional development. The research is being undertaken by the University of Newcastle, commencing next week. Children will be invited to participate in this project if their teacher is involved. Invitations will be sent out to relevant classes today. Participating students will complete some surveys and assessments as part of their usual school activities. All names will be removed and only student numbers will be given to the research team so that they can link survey and assessment results with NAPLAN and school attendance data. If you do not want the research team to have access to this data, you can opt-out on your child’s behalf. For

further information about the research, please visit the research website at www.newcastle.edu.au/QTR or call

the research team on (02) 49215351.

With the current change in weather, I would like to

remind everyone that hats are still required to be worn

in the playground. During Terms 1 and 4 we have a ‘No

Hat, No Play’ policy. Please, please, please if you don’t

have a hat, play in the shade.

Finally, I would like to congratulate Cody Bullock and

Amelia Bowen. Last assembly they both received Level 4

banners. A wonderful effort

from both students, well done!

Have a fabulous week.

VOLUNTARY SCHOOL CONTRIBUTIONS The general Voluntary School Contribution is a voluntary contribution to the school and is set at $49.00 per child for the whole year. Thank you in advance of a positive response to this request. SUBJECT CONTRIBUTIONS Each year we request payment for “Subject Contributions”. This is a specific request for books used in individual classes and a photocopy levy. The contribution is $35 for each child. EASTER EGG HAT PARADE & RAFFLE

Once again for Easter, the SRC team, Mrs Walker and Mr Ridley are very excited to host the Easter Raffle. We would be grateful if you could bring in some chocolate eggs of different sizes and shapes for prizes for the raffle. Any Easter baskets, in good condition, will be great for our prizes too. The Easter eggs will need to be in by 5th of April. The raffle will be drawn on Friday 12th of April at our Easter Hat Parade, which will commence at 12.00pm. Tickets will go on sale from next Monday 25th March at a cost of 50c a ticket. Tickets can be purchased in the morning before the bell and 1st half lunch

ASSEMBLY TIMES This Thursday the 28th March the K-2 Assembly will commence at 2.15pm where Red Class will be presenting. The Year 3-6 Assembly will commence at 2.40pm with Orange Class presenting. Could payments/notes for school and canteen, please be kept separate in individual envelopes/bags etc. Canteen lunch notes are all organised by the P & C, not the school. This makes receipting a lot quicker in the office. Many thanks in advance.

UNIFORM NEWS

Don’t forget the Uniform Shop is open on Friday mornings before school if you are needing uniforms.

Either call in yourself or your child can pick up an order form from the office and you can send it into the office with payment and Paula will fill the order when she is in on the Friday. The order will then be sent home with your child. There are heaps of second hand size 6 jumpers for sale at $2 each if you would like one. Kindy students tend to lose their jumpers so it is great to have a few spares. STEWART HOUSE DONATION DRIVE 2019 Each year students from public schools across NSW and ACT who are in need of a break from their everyday life, attend Stewart House.
