Safety Instructions

WARNINGS

1. Ensure the deployment site is clear of any cables or equipment that represents an electric shock hazard.

2. Do not deploy near power lines, in thunderstorms or winds exceeding 100kph.

3. Do not exceed the rated top load of the mast.

4. Ensure any top load is securely fastened.

5. Do not allow the mast to bend.

6. Ensure the deployment site is clear of any underground hazards before using ground pegs.

7. Ensure guy ropes and ground pegs are secure for duration of deployment.

8. Consideration must be given to the location of any cable from the top load to avoid trip hazards.

9. Consideration must be given when deploying in proximity to an aircraft landing site for aircraft movement.

10. RolaTube masts are only designed to function in the vertical axis.

11. Deploy the mast with the slot facing away from any prevailing wind.

1. Before deploying the mast please read all warnings below.

2. Avoid contact with heavy and sharp objects, in storage do not stack anything on top of RolaTubes.

3. Do not use the mast if there is visible damage.

4. The end user must assess the suitability of the ground pegs provided for the intended deployment environment, and replace with more suitable products if necessary.

The system is rated to the load stated. The end user is responsible for ensuring the loads are securely fastened. RolaTube Technology does not accept liability or provide warranty for usage deviating from the enclosed instructions.

5. RolaTube mast systems are rated for wind speeds of up to 100kph (62mph). The maximum wind rating is based on the bare mast correctly deployed and guyed. The end user or system integrator is responsible for ensuring the system is safe with the top load mounted.

Deployment Instructions

5 Person DeploymentPerson 1 & 2 at base of mast, Persons 3, 4, 5 at guy pegs

1. Unpack the bag and position the RolaCage unit where you wish to deploy the mast with the brake handles facing away from the wind. Arrange the top cap, secondary cuffs (fully opened) and payload within easy reach of the RolaCage. Note: Do not peg RolaCage until deployment is complete.

2. Person 1: Release the RolaCage brake by rotating both black knobs anticlockwise at the same time. Use the strap to pull the mast out of the RolaCage to 1m. Person 2: Fit top cap with flat edge opposite the mast slot, fit drop nose pin. Persons 3, 4 and 5: Using the slots in the top cap for guidance, pace out the position of the guy ropes as illustrated and drive pegs into the ground.

3. Persons 3, 4 and 5: Unwind the (red tab) top cap guy ropes fully leaving the snap hooks within reach of the RolaCage, walk other ends to their outer pegs, connect the ratchet hook to the peg, ensuring the full length of the guy rope has been deployed from the ratchet. Unwind the triangulated guy ropes, connect the ratchet hooks to the inner pegs, ensuring the full length of the guy ropes is deployed from the ratchet, and place both snap hooks within easy reach of the RolaCage. Return to the outer pegs and hold the guy ropes ready for deployment.

4. Person 2: Fit the top load into the top cap, tighten lock screw and connect the 3 x top cap guy rope snap hooks.

6. Person 1: Stop deployment when first set of secondary cuff holes is at chest height, and support the mast. Person 2: Apply brake if required by Person 1, by rotating the two black knobs clockwise, ensuring the brake bar remains even on both sides. Note: Do not overtighten the brake or damage may occur.

Person 2: Attach the first of the secondary cuffs with the perlon loops at the bottom and the cuff hinge at the mast slot opening. Fasten the rubber toggle and insert drop-nose pin. Attach the triangulated guy ropes to the relevant perlon loops. Release brake if necessary.

Person 1: Continue deployment to lower secondary cuff holes. Person 2: Attach lower secondary cuff as above, attaching final guy rope hooks.

5. Person 1: Slowly raise the mast while Persons 3, 4, and 5 pay out the top cap guy ropes maintaining even tension to keep mast as vertical as possible. If the mast starts to go off vertical, Person 1 must immediately stop the deployment and instruct Persons 3, 4 and 5 how to adjust their guy tensions to return the mast to vertical.

8. Secure the RolaCage using one rock peg to each corner.

7. Person 1: continue to raise the mast until the mast can roll no further, whilst Persons 3, 4 and 5 continue to support the mast using the top cap guy ropes. Person 2: Apply the brake evenly turning both black knobs clockwise. Persons 3, 4 and 5: Tighten and secure all guy ropes using the ratchets to all six pegs, with help from Person 2 to adjust as required for the mast to be vertical.

RECOVERYRecovery is a logical reverse procedure of deployment. Remove rock pegs from the RolaCage. Person 1: roll down the mast slowly and smoothly while Person 2 removes cuffs and Persons 3, 4 & 5 keep tension on the guy ropes. DO NOT allow the mast to fall to the ground or damage to payload and mast system will occur.
