Allows control of the antenna either locally through a laptop computer, on site desktop computer, the optional central control unit; remotely via an ethernet network or over the internet. • May be retrotted to compatible antennas without dismantling or removing the antenna. Suitable f or daisy chain and splitter sol utions. Suitable for ou tdoor use. 2 inches (50 mm) 2.4 inches (60 mm) 7 inches (178 mm) 1)  The protocol of the lo gical interfa ce can be switched f rom 3GPP/AISG 2.0 to AISG 1.1 with a vendor specic command. Start-up operation of the RCU 860 10148 is only possible in a RET system supporting 3GPP/AISG 2.0. The protocol can also be changed as follow s: 3GPP to AISG 1.1: Enter “AISG1” into the additional data eld “Installer’s ID” and perform a layer 2 reset or a power reset. AISG 1.1 to 3 GPP: Enter “3GPP” into the additional data led “Installer’s ID” and perform a layer 7 reset or a power reset. After switchi ng the protocol any other information can be entered into the “Installer’s ID” eld.  Please note: If the Primary of the RETsystem does not support the standard of the ‘logical interface ex factory’, the RCU must be switched to the appropriate standard of the Primary before installation . Please contact Kathrein for further information. 2)  The tightening t orque for attachi ng the connector must b e 0.4–0.7 ft-lbf (hand tightened). This device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to t he following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. Step 2

    Step 1 Threaded attachment fitting

for the downtilt adjustmentcap and the RCU.

    Locking ring.

Downtilt adjustment spindlewith integrated downtiltdegree scale.

    Antenna tilt control housing.

    Gear wheel for the RCU.

To set the downtilt angleexactly you must lookhorizontally at the scale. Thelower edge of the gear wheelmust be used for alignmentpurposes.

    In cases where a

mechanical downtilt isinstalled do not set the

mechanical tilt more than14 degrees or the unit

    may be damaged.

    Clean the thread surface.

Apply the mounting-paste evenlyonto the full circumference of thethread as illustrated in the figure.

Remove the protective downtiltadjustment cap completely fromthe antenna.

Remove the black locking ringby pulling it downward.

Check the phase shifter for properfunction by turning the gearwheel . The phase shifter will gosmoothly between minimum andmaximum tilt when functioningproperly.

Reset the downtilt to 0 degrees.

    Step 3

Push the attachment nut of the

    RCU down towards the RCUhousing.

Place the RCU carefully overthe adjustment spindle. Besure the flat side of the spindleis aligned with the flat side of theantenna tilt control housing.

Carefully push the RCU onto theantenna until it is firmly seated.

    Step 4

    Hand tighten the RCU

    attachment nut (41 mm).

    Torque setting: 1113 ft-lbf

Connect the RCU control cableimmediately after attachmentof the RCU. The torque settingfor the control cable connectormust be 0.40.7 ft-lbf (hand-tightened).

    Avoid ingestion of mounting-paste

or contact with eyes. In case ofcontact with eyes rinse thoroughlywith plenty of water and seekmedical advice. Avoid long-termcontact with skin. In case ofcontact with skin wash off withsoap and water.

The RCU must be keptin vertical alignment

with the antenna duringinstallation or the

    downtilt adjustment

    spindlemay bedamaged.
