Price Chopper, a chain of 128 grocery stores in six states throughout the Northeast, had a goal to dramatically improve the quality and quantity of light for employees, save money on energy costs, achieve central control of all lighting systems and to curb its environmental impact. At its freezer warehouse in Rotterdam, NY, GE’s Albeo LED high bay fixtures were installed throughout loading docks, ice cream and frozen food freezer space.

Food retailer Sainsbury’s operates over 1,000 stores across the UK, including 440 convenience stores and employs around 150,000 people. The carbon step change program forms part of Sainsbury’s 20x20 Sustainability Plan, an industry-leading plan that is the cornerstone of Sainsbury’s business strategy and sets out 20 targets to be achieved by 2020. Las Vegas, Nevada expects to save nearly $1.7 million in annual energy costs by switching to GE Evolve LED Roadway fixtures. When complete, the project will replace more than 80 percent of Las Vegas’ 50,000 streetlights reducing electricity by over 20 million kilowatt hours per year.

Rather than requiring replace-ment every four years on average, like the old lamps, the new LED fixtures have an estimated life of more than 11 years at 12 hours of use per day. This drastic reduction in maintenance will yield a projected $1 million in additional savings annually. Sparkling Hill Resort & SpaBritish Columbia, CanadaNew GE energy smart® LED replacement lamps in suites and meetings rooms will save Sparkling Hill $1.3 million over 10 years in lighting costs. Recently, the European-influenced resort went searching for new, more energy-efficient lighting to showcase the stunning environ-ments of its award-winning facility. In addition to energy savings, maintenance expense has fallen sharply at the resort where staff had changed from 10 to 20 bulbs a day on average— totaling nearly 2,500 a year. Since the swap, only five LED lamps have been changed in less than two years. According to Wolfgang Hoppichler, Chief Engineer, Sparkling Hill Resort, “Everything at Sparkling Hill has been designed to fit perfectly into the landscape, just as GE’s proposed lighting solution perfectly fit our one-of-a-kind luxury environment.”

The Immersion™ RV40 LED Lighting System is GE’s most advanced LED solution,

and is 78% to 85% more energy efficient than fluorescent.

Mandrake YachtGE Lighting has designed the interior lighting of Mandrake, a high performance racing boat with its LED Tetra Contour systems.

To comply with the given size peculiarities, GE lighting designed an indirect lighting using the Tetra Contour LED. Due to the particular flexibility of the lighting product, this solution allowed the insertion of bamboo paneling that compose the interior of the boat, creating a unique lighting effect. The equipment was integrated with furnishing lamps to plot the course in the appropriate place, and for the reading place inside the cabin also.
