STATION 1 – Mini Yarn Hats What you’ll need; Paper rolls (e.g. toilet/ kitchen paper roll) Different coloured wool Scissors Tissue paper Method: 1. Cut the paper roll into a thin “ring” 2. Cut the wool into threads, the length will be dependent on the width of the cardboard ring, so use a test piece first and then cut the rest to the same length, you will need quite a few! 3. Fold the wool in half and then push the loop side through the paper roll, then take the other end and “fold” in over the paper roll and into the loop. Pull to get a knot. 4. Keep doing this until the cardboard ring is covered with the wool. 5. Now you need to push the yarn through the paper roll, the easiest way to do this is to “twist” all the threads and push them through. 6. Roll out a small ball of tissue paper and push it into the cardboard roll, this will help give the ornament the perfect hat shape. 7. Get another piece of wool and tie it around the top to keep the rest of the wool in place. You should get a pom-pom effect on top. 8. If you want to make this into a Christmas tree ornament, tie some wool under the pom-pom to make a loop.
