Armstrong is a Director of Residential Appraisal for the Tarrant Appraisal District. During his tenure, WSISD implemented a 1-1 technology initiative that provides every student with a Dell laptop or iPad; WSISD was also named a Dell Model School District. Armstrong is pictured with Superintendent Frank Molinar and Trustee Glen Lowry. In a statement received by the Suburban Newspapers, Inc. office, the Texas Department of Public Safety released this information regarding the church shooting that occurred at the West Freeway Church of Christ, located at 1900 S. Las Vegas Trail, on Sunday, Dec. 29: At approximately 10:50 a.m., a gunman entered the West Freeway Church of Christ in White Settlement, Texas. Preliminary reports indi- cate that a man entered the church and sat with parishioners. During the service, the man removed a shotgun from his person and fired the weapon. Church members confronted the man immediately and returned fire, striking the sus- pect, who died at the scene. Tragically, two people shot by the suspect died at a local hospital. At White Settlement Police Chief J.P. Bevering’s request, as he stated at an earlier press confer- ence, the Texas Department of Public Safety is leading this investigation, with assistance from the Dallas Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. At this time there are no additional details.Church members identified Tony Wallace and Richard White as the two individuals shot by the suspect. Both were taken to a local hospital but sadly succumbed to their injuries. The gunman has been identified as Keith Kinnunen from River Oaks. Edith was born on July 5, 1922 in Wilson, Okla. to Bryan and LallahDumas. She moved to White Settlement in 1946 with her husband Clarence.She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Eastern Star. She was aloving wife and mother and will be greatly missed. She was preceded in death by her husband Clarence and her son Ronald. Survivors are: son, Mike Groomer and wife, Linda; son, StephenGroomer; daughter, Ruth Groomer; and fourteen grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

    No experience is needed - there is a place foryou. Anyone can help if you can follow instruc-tions, sew, tie a knot, crochet a blanket, or tell agood joke. Volunteers have lots of fun and developfantastic friendships. High school students canreceive community service credits for participat-ing. Materials (fabric, batting, thread, and yarn) areprovided. Donations of fabric, yarn, thread,sewing machines, sergers, or money to purchasematerials are greatly appreciated.
