My friends in Christ:

“3 Days of Giving” We probably all have had the experience of trying to find the right words to express our gratitude and thanksgiving to someone who has done something for you that went far beyond what you could have ever expected. “Thank You” seems so little but when it comes from your heart, it is sincere. I am truly amazed at the generosity and support of our parish community with our “3 Days of Giving” initiative. At this point we received over $74,000. This is incredible! This is a tremendous lift in helping our parish and school continue to carry out our pastoral and educational ministries. But beyond the financial support, this initiative brought so many parishioners together in a spirit of profound love for St. Jude. I want to thank all the volunteers who made this initiative so successful: Sister Elizabeth, Deacon Tim, Pat Kerwin, Kathy Fluehr, Karen Murphy and members of our Home and School Association, our Spring Fling Committee, our Communications Coordinator, our parish staff, especially Ellie and Gina, our video producers, and many others. What a strong team effort! I pray for God’s blessings on all of our volunteers and donors. Thank you!

Update on Live-Streaming our Masses Since we never had live-streamed Mass in our Church before, we chose to begin slowly with just a 9:00 AM Mass on the week days and 10:00 AM on Sunday. But it seems to have gone well with just a few hitches. So, starting Tuesday, May 26th, we will live-stream weekday Masses at both 6:30 AM and 9:00 AM, Saturday Mass at 9:00 AM, the Vigil Mass at 4:30 PM and Sunday Mass at 10:00 AM. But please note that if you cannot join us for Mass on those hours, you can go to our website anytime during the day and worship with us at Mass.

Our Eucharistic-Marian Devotions I invite you to join us for our Eucharistic – Marian Procession on Pentecost Sunday, May 31st at 1:00 – 2:00 PM. For those who can join us, the procession will take place in your cars. Cars will proceed slowly through the campus, ending up with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, which will be on a beautiful altar at the top of our campus near the rectory, and continue to pass by the Marian Shrine to the exit from the parking lot. No one will be allowed to get out of their car. The liturgy will consist of hymns, rosaries, a Litany to the Blessed Mother, and a Litany to the Blessed Sacrament. Holy Spirit Radio will radio-broadcast the Eucharistic-Marian procession. As you enter the property, our Hospitality Committee will greet you and ask you to turn your radio on to 1570 AM. You will be able to participate in the hymns, the rosaries, and the Litanies, both as you navigate the car procession and as you are returning home. If you want to listen at home, you can tune to 1570 AM on the radio and listen to the live-stream audio at holyspiritradio.org. I am looking forward to celebrating these Eucharistic – Marian Devotions with our parish community.

God bless! Monsignor Francis W. Beach, Pastor

NEWS FROM ST. JUDE SCHOOL

It's time to remember our servicemen and women in our thoughts and prayers as we celebrate this weekend. Memorial Day is an American holiday, observed on the last Monday of May, honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. While we now consider this weekend the unofficial start to summer, let's not forget the people whom we honor. We thank God for the countless women and men who gave their lives for us and our freedom. Congratulations to Justin Baker, St. Jude Class of 2016 and Archbishop Wood High School, Class of 2020, who earned the honor of class Valedictorian at graduation! Although the ceremony on June 1 will be a virtual one, Justin traveled to the Cathedral Basilica of Sts. Peter and Paul to deliver his video-recorded speech. Justin will attend the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in mechanical engineering. We wish you all the best, Justin, and we are St. Jude Proud! At St. Jude School, we have rescheduled our graduation for our eighth graders, our Class of 2020, for Wednesday, August 5, 2020. We hope that social distancing measures will allow our celebration of Mass in our Church. We remain incredibly proud of our eighth graders and all of our students who have worked diligently through the transition to distance learning this trimester. May God bless everyone, keep us safe, and healthy, and bring through the challenges of the pandemic.

A message from our Director of Parish Faith Formation

Dear St. Jude Families, There is so much to be grateful and thankful for, even in the midst of the pandemic. All we need to do is look at the cross. We are so loved and valued; Our Lord’s crucifixion was out of love for us! So amazing! In this time of crisis, many people have great struggles. We are all in the same storm, but not in the same boat. For those of you in a difficult place, may I suggest that you let Our Lord into your brokenness. Open up your Bible and read a few passages, pray the Rosary or the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. If you need assistance with prayers, all you need to do is go to www.laudate.org. It has all the prayers you would ever want right there. When things are difficult, I find it very helpful to focus on God’s eternal, everlasting Love. He loves each one of us uniquely!! We need to remember that when we are weak, Our Lord is strong. Unfortunately, this earth is not heaven, and we live in a broken world! If you are of a happy and healthy mindset place, please take some time to pray for those who are not. Now is a wonderful opportunity to show compassion and kindness to others. Please reach out to me if you are in a need. We as a parish are working closely with the Philadelphia Archdiocese to open our churches. The Archdiocese has begun an initiative called ARISE - Moving Out from the Tomb. It is through this movement that we will restore life in the church after the pandemic. Be assured that we are and will continue to do everything we can to meet your needs, and bring Jesus in the Eucharist to you as quickly as we can. Watching Mass can do miraculous things for you and your family. It will build you up both emotionally and spirit-ually. To watch Mass virtually, simply go to the St. Jude website, stjudechalfont.org, and click on the big banner at the top. Please know of my continued prayers for you and your family. Mrs. Lori Rawski

Memorial Day, Monday May 25

On Memorial Day, we remember our brave heroes in the Armed Forces who died in the service of our nation.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, And let perpetual light shine upon them.

May their souls and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

Amen.

Prayer of Spiritual Communion "Jesus, I believe You are present in the Most Holy Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul. Since I cannot at this moment receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as if You were already there and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.”

USCCB Prayer to Our Lady to Stop the Coronavirus

Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas.

We fly to you today as your beloved children. We ask you to intercede for us with your Son, as you did at the wedding in Cana.

Pray for us, loving Mother, and gain for our nation and world, and for all our families and loved ones, the protection of your holy angels, that we may be spared the worst of this illness.

For those already afflicted, we ask you to obtain the grace of healing and deliverance. Hear the cries of those who are vulnerable and fearful, wipe away their tears and help them to trust.

In this time of trial and testing, teach all of us in the Church to love one another and to be patient and kind. Help us to bring the peace of Jesus to our land and to our hearts.

We come to you with confidence, knowing that you truly are our compassionate mother, health of the sick and cause of our joy.

Shelter us under the mantle of your protection, keep us in the embrace of your arms, help us always to know the love of your Son, Jesus. Amen. (prayer cards and other resources available at http://www.usccb.org/about/communications/usccb-president-reflection-and-prayer-during-coronavirus.cfm )

A Coronavirus Prayer for Healthcare Workers

O Holy Spirit, we thank you for the advancements that have led to improving the health of so many. We beg you to inspire new breakthroughs in overcoming the coronavirus and all serious flu viruses. Protect, we pray, health care professionals from the illnesses they are treating, and make them instruments of your healing. Amen. Source: EWTN.com
