Overview This course is designed to provide an important annual educational forum for Hematology and Oncology doctors. The ultimate objective of this activity is to enhance physician understanding of the disease state and treatment advances for the benefit of patients. This course is intended for hematology/oncology practitioners, fellows, advanced practice providers and other healthcare professionals in the field.
CAREER FAIR
There will be a career fair for participants during this course from 10:30 am-1:15 pm, featuring recruiting agencies and local hospitals recruiters. Participants are encouraged to bring their CV.
REQUEST FOR CASE SUBMISSIONS
When you register, you will have an opportunity to submit a case for discussion during the course. In order to prepare your submission, we ask that you provide a BRIEF summary of your case and include key lab results. Please ensure that all identifiable PHI has been removed. Cases should have an educational purpose. The course faculty will not be able to provide a detailed/complex consult review during the course and they will try to get through as many cases as possible. Submission deadline: September 7, 2018

SYMPOSIUM OBJECTIVES
• Understand the current standard of care for use of the direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs). What is their safety and efficacy profiles?
• Understand the evolving role of coagulation testing in diagnosing and managing coagulation disorders. This includes the effect of the DOACs on routine coagulation tests, and what is the role for testing for levels of the new generation of anticoagulants.
• How can Interventional Radiology be best utilized for management of thrombosis. When is IVC filter appropriate? What is the growing role of thrombolysis and venous stent placement.
• How is hemolytic anemia associated with an increased risk of thrombosis?
• The association of thrombosis with cancer has been recognized for over 150 years. What is the current understanding of pathophysiology and management?
• Understand mechanisms by which mutations within cancer cells activates the coagulation system.

ABIM MOC Recognition Statement
Successful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the participant to earn up to 6.50 Medical Knowledge MOC Points in the American Board of Internal Medicine’s (ABIM) Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program. Participants will earn MOC points equivalent to the amount of CME credits claimed for the activity.
