    100. General

    • In addition to the safety rules,supplementary instructions

    applicable to specic location may be

    issued, provided they conform withthe intent and spirit of the rules. Inany given situation the term rules

    shall mean not only the “safetyRules” but also any supplementaryinstructions which may apply.

    101. Employees Knowlede o! R"les

    i. Every employee shall be familiar with the

    rules.ii. An Employee who is temporarily attached

    to a department shall familiaries himselfwith rules and instructions which have a

    bearing on the wor! he is doing.

    iii. Employees must comply with the Rulesand supplementary instructions.

    Ignorance or disregard of the "afetyRules, standard protection code orsupplementary instruction cannot betolerated and any such o#ence will result

    in disciplinary action against the o#ender.

    +. If any employee reports for duty or is on duty

    in a condition which, in the opinion of anyemployee, renders him unt to perform hisregular duties safely and eciently, he shallbe reported to his supervisor and if the

    supervisor concurs, the employee shall not bepermitted to wor!.

    *.Each wor!man shall be responsible for leaving

    his wor! area clean and orderly. =ools, andother materials etc. shall not be left lyingaround.

    be placed in special containers provided for thispurpose, or when such a container is notavailable beside the waste container so as tobe clearly visible to personnel responsible for

    disposal.

    avoid spillage, and to avoid any action whichcould cause a spar! such as shorting of batteryterminals etc. =his is particularly importantwhere the tan! is mounted close to the e$haustsystem or the battery. 5etrol engines shall bestopped and the ignition system turned o# beforerefueling.

    @.5etrol shall be stored in accordance with there%uirements of the 2inistry of 2ines and 5ower.

    must ma!e good contact with the ller pipe ortan!, while lling petrol tan!s, to prevent a staticcharge developing on the hose or containerwhich could cause a spar! and ignite the petrol.3hen a funnel is re%uired for refueling, it mustbe made of metal.

    4. Employees should wear clothing suitable for

    the 1ob being done. Boose clothing such asnec!ties, unbuttoned sleeves, etc shall not beworn in the vicinity of moving parts in whichthey could be caught. 5oc!ets shall be !ept

    free of rags and other material having looseends.

    *. Employees shall not wear swinging watch or

    !ey chains. 5ersonal 1ewellery such as ringsand wrist watches shall not be worn nearrotating shafts, spindles, gears belts and anyother source of entanglement or live electrical

    parts or circuits.

    • Employees whose duties re%uire themto operate radio e%uipment forcommunication shall be governed by

    the Radio Act and the Authority;sboo!let “Radio Telephone Procedure”.
