The 2011/12 Rotary Year draws to a close and we

look forward to the new year with Greg Schuetze at

the helm.

On Tuesday morning members discussed the past

year and suggested ideas for the next. Our strength

over this past year has been the variety and quality of

the program (guest speakers) and we thank Brenton

Oates for his efforts. We have the best Rotary

breakfasts’ in Australia and Gary and Leonie were

also thanked and their transfer fee was raised many

more notches to secure their talents to our club.

A suggestion of member/partner evening meetings to

further the social aspects of the club is being

considered. Our one hour meeting time is not

affording members enough time to know each other.

Other ideas such as a trip to Peterborough for its

Sound and Light Display at the Railway Museum

gained traction with members.

Our club Bulletin has been lively and informative e-

publication over the past year and we appreciate the

efforts of Mark Thompson and his PA, Janine, for

their untiring efforts.

Finally, a huge thanks to all members for giving me

their support and the opportunity to experience the

Club Presidency over the 2011/12 Rotary Year.

POLENTA DAY: INVITATION FROM TERESA DALL'ACQUA LEONARDI

~ POLENTA DAY FUNDRAISER ~

The Lombardia Association of SA is a small, not-for-profit, community-based Italian club. The

association was established in 1986 to provide a social network for migrants of the Lombardy region

of Italy living in Adelaide. We organise luncheons throughout the year to both provide an opportunity

for members to catch up over a nice meal, and raise funds for local charities.

Our upcoming event is our annual Polenta Day, which will also act as a fundraiser, whereby proceeds

from the day will be donated to the Australian Craniofacial Unit. The Unit operates from the

Women's and Children’s Hospital and the Royal Adelaide Hospital, and co-ordinates services ranging

from craniofacial surgery and neurosurgery, to nursing and counselling.

Bianca Zocchi, a friend of the Lombardia Association, has been involved with the foundation for a

number of years, helping to raise awareness and funds. The Craniofacial Unit's workload is increasing,

and financial assistance from the public is always needed.

Details for this year's Polenta Day are as follows:

Venue: ISSCA Clubrooms – 3 Sydenham Rd, Norwood

Price: Adults: $25, Children (under 12): $10

Time: 12:30pm start

Polenta Day is always our most popular function of the year, so book your seats fast! The main

course of the three course meal is a traditional northern Italian dish, cooked by the club's members

and volunteers. As always there will be a raffle on the day too!
