ANZAC Quiz created for his classroom later that day. A battery of 24 questions tested members, which included

the obscure such as Who wrote the poem ”In Flanders Fields” and where is the Menin Gate.

Of course the answers for some questions generated considerable debate and adjudication by the quiz master

and our military historian Mark T, but Siony takes the prize for the most creative answers.

Conference Update

Some of the others that travelled up on Thursday met up in the evening across the river in NSW for Curry King

Kevin Roberts’ gastronomic specialty. Kev cooked up so much there was plenty left for the following night.

Kevin also addressed the conference at the Saturday night dinner re the efforts of his team with rebuilding the

damage done in the 2009 Victorian bushfires.

Apart from a fantastic array of speakers, the social scene was not neglected at Mildura. In addition to an

extensive list of wineries to visit, beer tasting was also available for the discerning drinker. They think of

everything at Mildura. One of the evening highlights was a paddle steamer trip up stream that included dinner.

Our table was situated next to the servery but was last to be fed and Mark T was the last of the last. For those

that ventured on deck the paddle steamer’s headlights created an ethereal view of the river bank, with the red

gums’ branches reflected on the still water, as if reaching out to us.

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of a worthy enterprise and in particular to encourage and foster

The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.

High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by every Rotarian of their occupation as an opportunity to serve

society.

The application of the ideal service by every Rotarian to their personal, business and community life.

The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional people united in the ideal of service.

The Four Way Test of the things we think, say or do:

Is it the truth? Is it Fair to all concerned?

Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

For good food, good fellowship And the opportunity to serve through Rotary

…we give thanks.
