72% Of UK Gym Goer’s Don’t Work To A Training Plan Or Record Goals

A new survey, commissioned by UK gym clothing retailer Anax Fitness, shows that 72% of UK gym goer’s don’t work to a training plan or record any goals when working out. As passionate market leaders in the field Anax wanted to dig a little deeper into the industry and conducted an industry survey that was completed by 250 commercial and private gym users between the 4th and the 11th of January 2016 asking them a range of questions to do with their individual fitness and training habits

The survey identified some key areas for improvement within the Industry but at the same time highlighted the rise of the online fitness bloggers and industry influencers as a real driver behind people’s fitness goals. A staggering 60% of participants don’t include any form of weight training within their workouts and the same number only train on average between 2-4 times per week.

One key area of the survey was the numerous questions asked relating to gym and fitness clothing, with 80% of participants not doing any kind of research on gym clothing before training and further more 80% will spend no more than £20 when buying any form of gym clothing.

“Here at Anax we are passionate about the fitness industry and want to offer our customers the best possible clothing to help them achieve their fitness goals. At the same time as continually developing our offering we are also educating our customers on the need for correct clothing to enhance performance so to see the results come in that 78% buy their clothing solely based on price rather than performance is a sign for overall improvements needed in the industry” said Anax managing director Jordan Gregson.

Some other highlights from the survey include that 40% of participants would buy gym clothing on the recommendation of a fitness blogger, 35% are influenced to train by a family member of friend and that 88% of the 250 people surveyed said they were unaware how compression gym clothing could improve their performance.
