1.1 Telechief Series Instructions
1.1.1 Application
Use the Copy Module to memorize the existing button functions and ID number from a
Transmitter (TX) or Receiver (RX) that you can then download to the new TX or RX quickly
and efficiently. The copy module will not memorize (frequency) channels; this must be done by
changing the quartz crystal inside the Transmitter (TX) and the Receiver (RX). It is imperative
that the (TX) and the (RX) quartz crystals match. The Copy Module holds three (3) upload or
download functions from or to the TX or RX by buttons 1/2/3.
The copy module can also be used to update the button functions, and ID number to an existing
Transmitter (TX) or Receiver (RX). When this is done, it is important to upload the new
settings in the memory of the copy module (as sent by Control Chief Corporation) into both
the receiver and the transmitter. The copy module will typically be labeled when it comes
preprogrammed, but it is safe to assume that button 1 of the copy module contains your new
system data if there is no label.

1.2.1 Procedure for uploading to the TX from the Copy Module
COPY MODULE TELECHIEF TRANSMITTER
1. Remove the Magnetic Key from the Copy Module (OFF) and remove the batteries from
the transmitter
2. Connect the interface cable from the Copy Module to the TX’S programming port that is
located in the battery compartment.
3. Press and hold the Copy Module’s button that was used to memorize the required
functions for about 2 seconds until the Copy Module’s LED illuminates green. (It is
abnormal if the Copy Module’s LED illuminates red.)
4. Unplug the interface cable. Remark:
After the memorizing operation is completed, the same button used to store the configuration
data must be used to download the required functions to the same model of radio remote control.
In cases where there are more than one configuration file saved in the copy module, you are
advised to make a record of what was stored with which button number for future reference.

1.5.2 Precautions
1. Copy Module will not successfully upload/download if the memorized functions are from
a different model of radio remote control.
2. When using the Copy Module for copying/memorizing to/from, one must turn Off the
RX power supply and remove the batteries from the transmitter; otherwise it will
damage the RX's memory IC (EEPROM).
3. Functions must be memorized into the Copy Module when uploading; otherwise neither
the TX nor the RX will work.
4. It is normal if the Copy Module’s LED illuminates red when pressing buttons on the
Copy Module to test without being connected to a TX or RX.
5. When not in use, please remove the magnetic key from the Copy Module to save power.
6. If the Copy Module’s battery power is insufficient, the Copy Module’s LED will
illuminate red, yellow, and green sequentially.
7. It is abnormal if the Copy Module’s LED illuminates red when copying; please contact
Control Chief for technical assistance.
8. When trying a new configuration setting from the copy module for your Telechief system,
it might save trouble later if first you download your existing settings file into an unused
button in the copy module (i.e. button 3).

batteries paying attention to their polarity.
3. Put the bottom cover on the Copy Module and tighten the four (4) screws.
4. Remove batteries if Copy Module is not to be used for over one (1) week's time to avoid
potential damage due to leaking batteries.
Note: Copier retains memory without batteries installed.
