Social media is hard to measure ROI. ROI is actually the wrong term. The real measurement of marketing is comparing the net income (revenue minus expenses) by the total revenue generated — in other words, your Profit Margin. Marketing is measured against profits, which is a far more meaningful standard than ROI.

If social media marketing is replacing a more traditional form of marketing compare the savings between both forms. Measure the ways marketing is making your company more profitable by making the sales cycle more efficient.

Social media was never intended to be your virtual storefront. They are to be used as outposts to start talking with people who may eventually become customers. You use them to maximize reach and build profits.

Social media is a great tool to see your target market, up close and personal.

It helps your business be more responsive to issues. Letting you respond immediately to problems.

Your competition is on social media. You will fall far behind if you do not set up and keep social media marketing.

It will increase your sales.

You will find customers you didn’t know existed.

Social Media is not new it has become a necessity. 92% of business owners recently said social media is important to their business, up from 86% in 2013.

LinkedIn continues to be a primary network for businesses increased from 24% to 57% in 2014.

Image-centric networks like Pinterest, Instagram, and Snapchat continue to draw loyal users.

Social media sites are free but the costs associated are time and resources.

Decrease in social media organic reach. Your post can be lost by a drastic increase in content created by a larger user base. It can also be artificially by algorithms such as the one Facebook uses. Social media advertising can help your brands reach.

If you rely on one social media network it is not a good idea. When the site loses its popularity you will lose your audience. Not doing so can cost you.
