RITE OF ACCEPTANCE/ RITE OF WELCOMING—JANUARY 7,2018
When an inquirer is prepared to move forward on the journey, understanding the basics of
Christian teaching and showing the beginnings of spiritual life, he or she will publicly declare his or
her desire to share in the “life and hope in Christ” at the Rite of Acceptance. The Church, through our
local community, affirms this desire by accepting inquirers into the Order of Catechumens. For those
who are already baptized, it is at this time that the inquirers are welcomed into the life of the
community and acknowledged as part of it, though not yet fully initiated. This is known as the Rite of
Welcoming. Both the Rite of Acceptance/Rite of Welcoming will happen at the 10:30am Mass at
Sts. Peter and Paul Church.
Please pray for all involved.
From Fr. Ma….
Merry Christmas! On behalf of Fr Heim and myself, I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation for all the cards with Christmas blessings, delicious goodies, and other Christmas gifts that we have received this year. Most especially I am thankful for the hard work of countless volunteers who dedicated so much time in making our Christmas celebrations so very special. Thank you to all the church decorators, the choir and other musicians who sounded amazing, and all who served in liturgical ministries. The churches and liturgies were absolutely beautiful!
As the Octave of Christmas is coming to an end, we turn our attention to the ringing in of the New Year. While January 1st is not a Holy Day of Obligation, don’t forget to turn to Mary, the mother of God, for her intercession and protection during the year 2018. May God bless all of you with a Happy and Blessed New Year.
Gratefully and humbly yours,
Fr Matt

Our lives are made of days and nights, of seasons
and years, for we are part of a universe of suns
and moons and planets. We mark ends and we
make beginnings and, in all, we praise God for
the grace and mercy that fill our days.
Remember us, O God;
from age to age be our comforter.
You have given us the wonder of time,
blessings in days and nights, seasons and years.
Bless your children at the turning of the year and
fill the months ahead with the bright hope
that is ours in the coming of Christ.
You are our God, living and reigning, forever
and ever. Amen.
