"For the Son of Man did not come to be
served, but to serve and to give his life as
a ransom for many." (Mark 10:45)
If you held a mirror up to your life, would it reflect
God's love and mercy? If you are struggling with
this, try changing your attitude from "I want
more" to "thank you God for everything you have
given me; I have enough to share." This change
in perspective will bring you joy through service to
others. Pray daily to become less self-centered
and to become more God-centered.

Archbishop’s AppealJames’ and John’s request to be given a favour by being seated at Jesus’ left and right, unfortunately, is very like many of us. We often allow our egos to rule us to try and position ourselves ahead of others. We want to be in positions of power, and many of us do not handle power well. Many people who find themselves in a position of power over others use this power to bully and belittle those who are answerable to them. They have not learned that true power comes from empowering others. Jesus tells his disciples that in order “to become great among us, you must be your servant.” Servant leadership is very powerful not only for the leader but for all those associated with that leader. There is an expression that should always be kept in mind, “If the choice is between being right and being kind; always choose kind.” The Archbishop’s Appeal supports various programs which provide great servant leadership. One of these is Health Care Chaplaincy. The Health Care Chaplains offer spiritual support for people who find themselves hospitalized. These dedicated people visit the sick and give the support needed, whether it be someone to listen or to say a prayer. By donating to the Appeal, the Archdiocese of Regina can continue to provide this gift to those who are suffering.

Spiritual Motherhood of Priests Apostolate for the Archdiocese of ReginaThe idea of spiritual adoption of priests, where a woman adopts a certain priest as her spiritual “son” for whom she promises to pray, is not a new one; however, it was reserved only for nuns. In 2007, the Congregation of the Clergy, with the approval of Pope Benedict XVI, invited lay women to adopt priests as their spiritual sons, and to pray for them constantly, particularly before the Blessed Sacrament. In this Spiritual Motherhood of Priests, we try to imitate our Blessed Mother Mary, the first Mother of Priests, in her humility and sacrifice. We adopt priests as our sons with the commitments of Eucharistic Adoration, daily prayers, and sacrifices to help our priest-sons give themselves to God more perfectly in being shepherds of their flocks, leading us all to heaven with them. For more information please contact:Shannon Novak, [email protected] or 306-585-1609Mass and Blessing Ceremony for Spiritual Mothers of PriestsSaturday, October 23, 2021 at 1:30 PMTrinity Manor at Westerra8351 Canola Avenue* If you feel called to become a Spiritual Mother and "adopt" a priest to pray for him, please contact Shannon by October 22.

Join us for this three-episode series, Thursdays, October 21, October 28, and November 4 at 3:00 PM.Oct. 21 - GenerosityOct. 28 - HospitalityNov. 4 - Compassion•Rabbi Jeremy Parnes is the spiritual leader of Beth Jacob Synagogue in Regina. His long involvement in multifaith and community organizations includes Regina Multifaith Forum, Habitat for Humanity, numerous City of Regina committees on social housing and homelessness, and several inner-city boards, including Youth Connexions and The Boys and Girls Clubs of Canada. •Rev. Amanda Currie has been minister of First Presbyterian Church in Regina since 2017. She previously ministered in Saskatoon for 14 years and has recently completed a two-year term as Moderator of the Presbyterian Church in Canada. Generosity, hospitality, and compassion are social virtues that can heal the wounds of our society.Register in advance for this series: https://bit.ly/3iwyPfmFor further information, contact Archdeacon Cheryl Toth at [email protected] webinar is planned in the spirit of the LAURC Covenant by the Ecumenical Stewardship Committee of the Anglican Diocese of Qu'Appelle, the Saskatchewan Synod of the ELCIC, and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Regina.
