How will I find my way around NMS?

• NMS counselors and principals will visit your school in the spring

• Study your maps• Tour NMS over the summer• Ask for help when needed• RELAX, teachers will be very

understanding first week of school!

Getting Around• Four Biggest Concerns of 7th graders:• Using lockers:

– 45% concerned about using lockers– Majority of kids were able to use lockers by the 3rd day– Biggert concern, yet easiest to conquer!

• Finding way around the school/ getting lost– 27% concerned about getting lost– Majority of kids were able to find their way around after the first day– The school is a big square!

• Keeping up with homework, tests, quizzes, etc.– 18% were concerned that there would be more work involved in 7th grade– Majority of kids felt that the work is comparable– R/A and clinic is very helpful

• Meeting new friend– 10% were concerned with meeting new friends– Majority of kids felt that it was easy to meet new friends– You are all in the same boat, become involved!

How will I keep up with 7th grade work?

• Remember your time management and study skills that you learned in elementary school

• Ask for help when needed• Take a notebook and textbook to every class• Listen and actively participate in class• Write down all homework assignments• Have study buddies in every class• Clinic on Thursday afternoons at NMS• Use your assignment book
