    Recommendations-in the framework of the VI European Patients Rights Day-

    2: Ageing empowerment on communities (spokesperson:Susan Warr)

    The involvement of ageing citizens in the community and civic

    organizations dealing with health.

    Number 1

    Partner organizations of ACN should identify older people from eachcountry to come together to discuss and identify issues and

    solutions (through advert/meting/media, etc), in order to enable olderpeople to be more active and to empower them.

    Number 2In order to improve communication, partner organizations of ACN

    should ensure that they constantly review/rethink how they contactpeople and reach those who are hard to reach/not often heard AND

    1: Ageing empowerment on policies (spokespersons: GiovannaMarsico, Nicolina Cenic)

    The public policies for the active involvement of ageing citizens in

    health policy and in the health care structures.

    Number 1NATIONAL DIALOGUE. Objective: national authorities mustfacilitate dialogue - NG must facilitate regional bottom up debates onpriorities of senior citizens on health and wellbeing . NG have to

    take commitment to take action.

    Number 2LOCAL GOVERNMENTS must facilitate and support elderly citizensin social activities to promote healthy living and prevent isolation.NG must make a legal framework .

    Recommendations-in the framework of the VI European Patients Rights Day-

    Number 3Partner organizations of ACN should ensure seminars that engageolder people in both theoretical knowledge/information and also

    practical solutions, in order to improve opportunities for training andfor lifelong learning, thus empowering older people.

    Number 4Partner organizations of ACN should utilize students to be

    champions/agents to promote patients rights and responsibilities, inorder to foster intergenerational solidarity and encourage socialnetworks.

    them in managing their diseases.

    sub-group A) - spokesperson: Prunbauer Michael1. National governments should ensure that a legal framework existsthat securely allows elderly people to specify their wishesconcerning medical treatments and nominate a proxy, to take effectshould the patient be unable to make their own decisions.National government or regional authorities should inform peopleabout the possibilities, procedures and limitation of the above.

    consider introducing a basic standard contract, to safeguard therights of patients to affordable healthcare.

    - standards & criteria for providing a fair welfare for all elder peoplevia multidisciplinary approach- guidelines about civic involvement on active ageing- empower access to care.

    2. Creation of a national observatory able to pilot all these previous

    propositions.
