WHAT IS SCADA?• SCADA stands for Supervisory Control AndData Acquisition.

• SCADA refers to a system that collects datafrom various IO signals at a factory, plant or inother remote locations and then sends this data to a central computer which then manages and controls the data.

WHAT IS DATA ACQUISITION?

• Process of retrieving control information from the equipment which is out of order or may lead to some problem. 

• Continuous monitoring of the equipment to which it is employed. 

• Data accessed forwarded onto a telemetry system ready for transfer to the different sites.

• Short for remote terminal unit • Installed at remote location• Collects data, codes the data into a format that is transmittable 

• Transmits the data back to a master • Collects information from the master device and implements processes that are directed by the master. 

• Input channels for sensing or metering• Output channels for control, indication or alarms • Communications port.
