General

Enrolment in the units of a course of studies and/orthe payment of unit fees to MIT allows students to

avail themselves of the opportunity to study at MIT

but does not in any way guarantee that the students

will pass the units needed to obtain the course

qualification. Passing a unit requires that enrolled

student pay their unit fees and show they are

reasonably competent in the unit material

Local Standards• getting a job locally requires achieving the local

standard of language and expression– don’t confine yourself by constantly talking in another

language, push yourself to learn

– diction is a bigger problem than language according tomany employers, listen to how others talk

• writing skills as vital as oral skills– extend your experience and practice

– comprehension (reading good English) helps people writebetter, read a local newspaper

Time management• forward planning

– diary, what is due and when

– see the busy time before it happens

– each task within an assignment project considered

carefully, how, where, when– sequence of tasks, what must be done first, second …

– what resources do I need to get this done, investigate, read, get information, write up

– don’t miss a class just to catch up with assessment tasks

Australian employers often see project management as acritical skill in prospective employees
