Monthly summary on the principal activities of Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs for the month of June, 2018

I. Swachh Bharat Mission

i. 282 cities/ towns were certified as Open Defecation free (ODF) during this month. A total of 2,593 · cities/towns have been certified as ODF by means of third party so far.

ii. 79.15 lakh citizens are registered on the Swachhata App. 1.36 crore complaints have been registered out of which 1.29 crore complaints were resolved by end of this month.

iii. The Public Toilet locating facility on Google Maps has been implemented in 292 cities with 27,243 toilets mapped so far.

iv. ~289 .40 crore was released to the States during the month.

v. 11 awards for top urban local body under Swachh Survekshan 2018 category and 3 awards for citizen led initiatives in solid waste management were distributed by the Hon'ble Prime Minister of India at Nehru Stadium, Indore.

vi. Hon'ble Prime Minister released "Swachh Survekshan 2018 Report" and "Swachh Survekshan 2018 Results Dashboard". Two booklets titled "Advisory on Decentralized Processing of Organic Waste" and "Transforming Urban Landscape of India: A Book of Case Studies" were also launched by Hon'ble Prime Minister

vii. SBM(U) participated in the exhibition organized during June 2-5, 2018 as part of World Environment Day, 2018 celebrations at Vigyan · Bhawan with the theme of combating single use plastic.

viii. Four workshops for familiarizing Urban Local Bodies with 'Star Rating Protocol for Garbage Free Cities' were organized at Bhopal, Chennai, Pune and Gandhinagar. 1,000 participants were trained in these workshops.

ix A weekly radio program on All India Radio (AIR) titled 'Swachhata Selfie', which is focused on presenting to listeners inspiring stories on Swachhata from across the country. was launched on June 4, 2018.

II. Smart Cities Mission

i. Shillong from Meghalaya was selected for development as Smart City in June, 2018. Total 100 Smart Cities have been selected under the Mission.

ii. So far 94 Smart Cities, including Diu and Silvassa in the month of June, 2018, have incorporated city level Special Purpose Vehicles (SPVs)

ii. During the month, work was either completed or started in additional 82 projects worth z2,921 crore and tenders were issued for 24 projects worth z224 crore. With this, 1035 projects worth z33,808 crore are under implementation and 1,469 projects worth z 53,194 crore have been tendered.

iii. A conclave was organized on 15.06.2018 at India Habitat Centre for better understanding of challenges faced by the PMCs.

iv. Smart cities Mission initiatives was showcased as part of the Third Annual Meeting of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) at National Center for Performing Arts (NCPA) Mumbai from June 24-26, 2018

III Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformatipn (AMRUT}

i. State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs) to the tune of z 77,640 crore (4,672 projects) have been finalized for all the States. Detailed project reports for projects costing z 70,031 crore have been approved. 565 projects worth z 663 crore have been completed and in case of 2,613 projects worth z 44,360 crore, work is in progress. 806 projects worth z 12,429 crore are under tendering process. Tenders have been invited for 602 projects costing z12,579 crore.

ii. z9,834 crore has been released to States/UTs against their approved State Annual Action Plans (SAAPs).

IV Deendayal Antyodaya Yojana / National Urban Livelihood Mission (DAY /NULM}

i. 9,861 Self Help Groups (SHGs) were formed, 6,344 SHGs were given Revolving Fund, 64,355 candidates were skill trained, 14,636 trained candidates were given placement, 5,126 beneficiaries were assisted with loans for setting up of individual and micro enterprises, and 5,3271oans were given to SHGs under SHG-Bank linkage programme.

ii. zS,658.94 crore was released during the month

V Pradan Mantri Awas Vojana (PMAY)/ Housing for All (HFA)

i. Release of central grant to Chhattisgarh, Pudduchery, Daman & Diu, Maharastra, Rajasthan and Tamilnadu was approved

ii. z1353.22 crore was released to the States during the month.

iii. 51.07 lakh dwelling units in 10,371 projects with an investment of z2,81,306 crore involving Central assistance of z77,934 crore have been approved under PMAY. So far, 25,40,711 houses have been grounded for construction and construction for 7,66,525 houses have already been constructed and 5,17,315 houses have been occupied

VI Urban Transport

Delhi Metro extension from Mundka to Bahadurgarh of 11.18 km length was inaugurated by the Prime Minister on 24.06.2018 for commercial operation. The entire 29.64 km long Inderlok/Kirti Nagar to Bahadurgarh corridor called the Green Line has become operational.

ii. Ministry of Finance, Department of Expenditure has given 'in principal approval' on the proposals of Phase-IV of Delhi, Kanpur, Agra, Indore and Bhopal Metro projects

VII Housing

i. The first meeting of the High Level Committee, constituted by the Government of Uttar Pradesh to redress the issues being faced by home-buyers in NOIDA, Greater NOIDA and Yamuna Expressway was held under the Chairmanship of Secretary (HUA) on 25.06.2018

ii. Secretary (HUA) also chaired a meeting on 28.06.2018 to discuss the housing need of Senior Citizens in the country and possible policy initiatives for "Retirement Homes in India".

VIII Delhi Matters

Amendments to the Master Plan for Delhi (MPD)-2021 were notified on 21.06.2018, for regularization of the misuse of premises and unauthorized constructions by providing for additional FAR in eligible cases while at the same time taking care of issues such as parking spaces, greenery, accessibility to fire services, infrastructure requirements and convenience of inhabitants

IX NBCC(India) Ltd.

NBCC was appointed as implementing agency to construct Vanijya Bhawan, which will house the Commerce Ministry at Akbar Road at a

project cost of ~226.83 crore. NBCC also bagged the project for planning, designing and construction of All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) at Kothipara in Bilaspur District of Himachal Pradesh.
