AMD’s successful presence at GITEX is culminating in a LAN gaming tournament between the region’s best gamers on Thursday, 16th October between 2-5pm. AMD has hosted its Eyefinity Tournament daily during GITEX, leading to the ultimate gaming tournament on the last day of the show. The AMD Counter Strike Go LAN tournament will be conducted on AMD’s Eyefinity set up, five 46 inch monitors, at their stand on CC2-6 on Concourse 2.

The format of the tournament is 3 v/s 3, and registrations are accepted at the stand. Three lucky winners stand a chance to win some of the

3rd Prize: AMD APU Sample Kit. The first 40 gamers to register for the tournament receive a gaming voucher.

AMD’s gaming theme at GITEX has secured huge interest and attention amongst visitors. According to Omar Fakhri, head of sales for AMD MEA, “This year’s GITEX has been busier than ever before and we are proud to have demonstrated all of our latest technology at the stand. Visitors have shown a keen interest in our processors, especially the Radeon R9 295X2, which is currently the fastest graphics card in the world. We are already looking forward to next year’s show!”

enforcement capabilities through Big Data analysis.

In terms of the company’s flash offerings, Kanafani believes a flexible

approach is needed to satisfy customers. “I do not believe in a one-size-fits-all philosophy,” he says. “We can provide a hybrid model of disk and flash arrays which allows for a less rigid business approach.”

Kanafani says that GITEX is symbolic of the company’s regional expansion. Last month, NetApp opened an office in Doha, in addition to its existing Saudi Arabia branch. “NetApp Middle East has

grown 40 percent in the last nine months,” he says. “We’re looking to build a base in Oman, but not before we’ve properly established ourselves in every country where we have a presence.”

How long have you been exhibiting at GITEX?We have been exhibiting at GITEX for more than five years.

If you have been here before, what is the relevance of this exhibition to your business in the region?GITEX is the gateway to the Middle East & Africa’s ICT industry, which continually attracts several top companies to participate in the show each year. Honeywell Scanning & Mobility’s (HSM) participation can be explained in two folds; firstly it’s a great platform to meet our longstanding customers and also gives us the opportunity to showcase our latest product offerings & solutions to the many visiting delegates at the very popular GITEX

What will you be doing special this GITEX? (eg bigger stand, more demos etc)We are showcasing demos of our newly launched products such as Granit 1280iFR scanner, a scanning solution for warehouse workers and recently launched

Captuvo SL62 enterprise sled, an encasement that transforms an Apple iPad mini into a customer engagement tool for retail, hospitality and field service associates.

How do you believe GITEX is an indication of the health of the ICT business in the Middle East?Absolutely, GITEX’s role in the ICT industry is pivotal for the re-export market. It is an annual international trading hub for the global technology sector. GITEX acts as both, an inbound sourcing platform for the entire Middle East region and the eminent source for anyone interested in doing business in the region.

What do you believe will be special about GITEX this year? The show themes including Real Time Mobile and Smart Destinations have been very interesting this year.

Are you planning on being back next year?Yes, we will be here next year.
