603 POLYURETHANE

Application range

603 POLYURETHANE is a one component polyurethane sealant for sealing expansion joint, construction joint, crack, door and window frame, pre-cast panel, sanitary ware or grouting tiles, roof tiles.

Joint preparation

• Maximum movement capacity for sealant used in the building industry rises to 25%

• Recommended dimensions for joints are

Width (W) : 5-50 mm. Depth (D) : 5-25 mm.

If width ≤ 10 mm. then D = W If width > 10 mm. then D = W/2

Joint with are expected to experience cyclical movement should have a width to depth ratio 2: 1

• Damage must be repaired prior to application, using a

mortar with 751 LANKOLATEX or 731 LANKOREP STRUCTURE.

• Joint must be very clean, sound, dry, dust-free and without any traces of oil, laitance, paints and curing compound.

• A bond breaker such as masking tape and round polyethylene foam (LANKO FONDS DE JONTS backing rod) should be sued to ensure that the joint maintains a movement and to reduce the depth of the joint to be filled.

• The excellent adhesion quality of 603 POLYURETHANE generally make a primer unnecessary. However, if the inside joint surfaces are porous a primer coat should be applied.

Product and tool preparation

310 ml. Cartridge

• Remove the seaming at the base of the cartridge.

• Pierce the top part of the threaded end of the cartridge.

• Screw on the plastic tip and cut diagonally as required • Depress thumb release plate of the handy gun and

withdraw push rod. • Insert the cartridge. Ensure

secure placement within end ring.

• Move push rod hard against cartridge plunger. Cartridge should be firmly in place.

• Depress trigger to commence gunning.

600 ml. Sausage

• Depress thumb release plate of the barrel gun and withdraw “T” push rod.

• Turn front-end cap anticlockwise. Put the nozzle Insert the sachet into the barrel gun. Cut off exposed end of sachet. Ensure sachet is well opened and that no cellophane extends beyond sealant to clog nozzle.

• Attach front-end cap to barrel with a clockwise turn. • Cut the nozzle as required and depress trigger to

commence gunning.

Application

• Squeeze out one or more beads depending on the width of the joint to be filled.

• Once the sealant has been applied a small timber spatula or finger soaked in soapy water shall be used to compact the sealant into the joints and to achieve a smooth finish.

• Any masking tape applied should be removed before the sealant cures.

Consumption

• One 310 ml. Cartridge fills a 3-m long of 1×1 cm. gap. • One 600 ml. Sausage fills a 6-m. long of 1x1 cm. gap.

Precautions

• Do not breathe vapors of fumes. • Avoid contact with eyes and skin. • Use only with adequate ventilation. • Wash thoroughly after handing.

Remarks

• For characteristics, please see the catalogue. • For safety matter, please see the material safety data

sheet.
