Introductions BMcOur Vision was for integrated teaching with the stuff but - how do we get from minimal technology to school-wide technology infusion?Obtained a grant:Granted $1.6 million (1st year) and $2.6 million (2nd year) to create 21st century teaching and learning environment.*BMc Ready for Change community already thereBelieved we could make a change envisioned what it would look like then planned for itSupport of Central Office (no roadblocks, understanding of project goals and requirements, mandated attendance at PD)School Level (principals understand project goals, obtaining 21st century leadership training, developing a plan for implementation)Realized our planning group couldnt provide relevant and timely PD without help. *BMc100% participation everyone will participate to the best of their abilityUse formative data from student response systems to drive instructionTeachers have choices on how to best meet diversity of studentsCollaboration among facilitators/teachers also teachers/teachers, admin and teachers. Intense experiences with effective follow-up not just a one-shot deal, or idea-of-the year. Not just How do we use technology with students? but How can technology help me present this difficult concept at a higher level of thinking? We want our students to THINK!Allows teachers to examine and revise their teaching

*JK Vanguard team chose because of potential to become team leaders, with enthusiasm for teaching/learning with technology and sharing with colleagues. Whats in it for them: Trained first, extra sessions with experts like David Warlick, Clif Mims, Jeff Ertzberger, had goods early to practice, opportunities to attend conferencesRequired: sign up to teach at least one more week, facilitate PLC sessions, serve as in-school resource.Tested out PD model on Vanguard Team asked for honest feedback Fondly referred to as speed week (almost too much info) On Friday, planned PD for remaining staffInteractive WhiteboardsStudent response systemsWeb 2.0 toolsCollaborative documents (Wikis, Google Docs)Planning together

*BMc Monday technology connectivity, background info/HOTS, collaboration, start integration w/Office gamesTuesday Mimio, Telecollaboration, QuizdomWednesday choose topics of interest (Movie Maker, iMovie, Google Tools, Digital Storytelling, podcasting, Web 2.0 tools)Thursday Media Resources, wikis, revisit, principal expectationsGave them time to practice, and begin to develop useful resources M-ThFriday full day of collaborative planning (plan something for first day, and a unit that collaborated out of your department)*AA Expectation and involvement of administration to insure successYou cannot do this in isolation. cant do in 30 mins once a monthVanguard part helping each otherTakes time to create resources share the loadDiscussion/reflection process needs to be part of collaborative planning sessions

*AA/JK Reteach those that are ready to try again, Reinforce and Extend those that just dabbled and are ready for more details, help those that are ready to move further alongPart of the Vanguard teams responsibility was to pick one struggling staff member and encourage them. Everyone was supposed to use technology a minimum of 10 minutes a day (non-block) and 10 min. per block in HS.Use the media and technology facilitators to assist with technology planning, obtaining resourcesHS planning sessions were teacher lead with cross-curricular teams in each session. Realized at the end of Year #1 that teachers were using technology OK, but not enough resources available for students to get a daily dose of technology. Goal for Year #2 is that NO student will go through the day without touching technology in at LEAST one class.*JK KIS struggled with collaborative planning and their follow-up was focused on that w/ half-day planningKMS wanted a lot of data-driven instruction so their work last summer w/ Clif in science, Adam Harbaugh in math addressed that. ALBHS working towards 1:1 netbooks for all students in school.Looking towards sharing this change model with other schools*
