FUTURAMA1999-2003, 2008-present

The on-again, off-again series is extremely well-written and it has a wonderful mix of characters; another brain child of Simpsons creator Matt Groening. This is one of those shows that is hard to evaluate. Although written by the same person, Futurama is more complex and very different from The Simpson; though its cultural effect is not as much as the later.

Named after a 1939 pavilion from New York’s World Fair that imagined the world as it would be in 1959, Futurama is about Phillip J. Fry, a kid who deliver pizza on New Year’s eve and accidentally gets cryogenically frozen in 1999 and revived in 2999, has to get used to life in the future. And what a beautiful future it is, filled with boozy robots, hot one-eyed mutants, amphibious creatures, and international humans from Planet Earth and beyond.

THE SIMPSONS1989-present

The Simpsons is one of the greatest television shows of all time. What sets The Simpsons apart is the endless depth of its cast, since the show is much bigger than Homer -- there is Bart, Mr. Burns, Ned Flanders, Lenny & Carl, Patty & Selma, Chief Wiggam, Barney, Mo, Apu, Disco Stu, etc. The list goes on and on, but these characters and the settings they inhabit what bring Springfield alive, allowing the show’s writers to explore and ridicule every aspect of the suburban American experience. Homer Simpson ruins all things good. Unlike his Greek namesake who truly was one of the greatest guys in history, Homer is a buffoon, who also happens to be a comedic indictment of the current direction of the Western man.

AMERICAN DAD1999-2002, 2005-present

This is definitely a fantastic show, which tells the story of an American family who has to face day to day struggles that turn into extremely hilarious and incredible stories. The characters in the Smith family can really keep the viewer entertained and you will find yourself laughing the whole way through. So, you will see that this show is definitely worth a shot!

FAMILY GUY1999 – present

This animated show could be best described as being ridiculously smart and even outrageously funny. If you are easily offended by the rough jokes, it will be better to skip this one, because sometimes it does have offensive content. But, still, this is one of the greatest animated TV shown out there because it’s so funny, edgy, brilliant and extremely creative as well as sick, twisted and politically incorrect. The brainchild of Seth MacFarlane, The Family Guy is about a dysfunctional Rhode Island family of losers who are constantly ridiculed by Stewie Griffin, the diabolical baby who dreams of world domination and speaks with an upper-class British accent. As a diaper-wearing intellectual, Stewie’s sarcasm rules the roost, as his relentless wit savagely attacks the stupidity, incompetence, ugliness, and laziness of the rest of the family. And then there’s Peter Griffin, the deadbeat dad who’s actually fatter, dumber, lazier, and cruder than Homer Simpson.

GRAVITY FALLS2012 - present

This is one of the smartest cartoon show on television these days and it really stands out from the crowd! Most particularly because it is free from the usual adult oriented jokes and twisted humor. Yet the show touch the chords of both the mature and child in you. The show concerns the adventures of 12 year-old twin brother and sister Dipper and Mabel Pines, whose summer plans are ruined when their parents send them off to their Great Uncle Stan in the mysterious, fictional town of Gravity Falls, Oregon. The twins try to adapt to the weird surroundings but sense there is something strange about Gravity Falls and begin to unlock its secrets. The twins are propelled into an amazing adventure where they enthusiastically vanquish evil to battle the imminent mysteries that surround them.

SOUTH PARK1997-present

A lot of people misunderstood the show although some find it very intelligent, very creative and though sometimes, it is a bit offensive, but somehow the show pull people to watch it. The tandem creation of Trey Parker and Matt Stone is a magical combination of offensive and politically incorrect scripts with crudely animated, googly eyed kids who deliver the lines. This show seemed to have crossed about every line that a TV series can, something you wouldn’t expect from an animated TV show. The miracle of all is that it hasn’t been cancelled yet.

The only way to summarize South Park is to list some of Cartman’s more memorable acts of hostility. Cartman is about as iconic a character as there is in the adult cartoon world. To steal a line once used to describe the horrors of industrialization, Cartman is “nasty, brutish and short” -- and to our endless amazement and amusement, we find that he is blessed with virtually no redeeming qualities. His innocent selfishness never wavers.
