Paisley Place MatItems you will need:7 Fat quarters in coordinating colors 1/2 yd. Fabric for binding or 304” packaged binding (we used brown)1 yd. Fabric in a neutral color 1/2 yd. Low loft batting Cut-away stabilizerChalk wheelDesign CR0079

Use 1/4” seams to assemble the place mat. The fabric listed above will make four place mats.

1. Cut fabric: Neutral color, cut four 14” x 18” pieces of fabric for the top, and four 14” x 22” pieces of fabric for the back. Cut 14 11/2” x 4” from the seven fat quarters. Cut 2” x 304” from the fabric for the binding. Cut four pieces of 14” x 22” pieces of low loft batting.

2. Mark the center of the design(s) on the 14” (sides) x 18” (top and bottom) piece of fabric. Hoop the fabric with cut-away stabilizer. Embroider the designs. Remove from hoop. Trim the cut-away stabilizer close to edge of the designs.

3. Stitch 14 11/2” x 4” pieces of fabric together to form a band for the edge of the 14” x 18” pieces of fabric. Repeat for the remaining place mats.

4. Stitch the fabric bands to the outside edge of the 14” x 18” piece of fabric. Repeat for the remaining place mats.

5. Lay the finished piece front side down, the batting, and then the 14” x 22” piece of fabric front side up. Pin. Repeat for the remaining place mats.

6. Bind the outside edge of the place mat together. Press. Repeat for the remaining place mats.

Paisley NapkinItems you will need:1/2 yd. fabricFibrous water soluble stabilizerChalk wheelDesign CR0089

The fabric listed above will make four napkins.Suggest using same color bobbin thread.

1. Cut the fabric: four 18” x 18” pieces.

2. Mark the center of the design on the corner of the fabric. Hoop the napkin with one piece of fibrous water soluble stabilizer on the back of the towel. Embroider design. Remove from hoop. Remove fibrous water soluble stabilizer close to edge of design.

3. Hem the edge of the napkins with the rolled edge sewing machine foot.

Paisley Candle WrapItems you will need:9” x 9” piece of organzaFibrous water soluble stabilizerChalk wheelHair dryerCandle Coordinating flowers and leavesCandle holderDesign CR0077

1. Mark center of design on 9” x 9” piece of organza. Hoop with fibrous water soluble stabilizer. Embroider design. Remove from hoop. Remove stabilizer with water. Dry. Trim organza close to design.

2. Heat the area on the candle where the embroidered piece will be adhered. Lay the embroidered piece on the candle. Use a small piece of fabric to help the embroidered piece adhere to the candle.

3. Place the candle in the candle holder. Make a wreath with the flowers and leaves to wrap around the candle.

Paisley Utensil and Napkin HolderItems you will need:1/8 yd. color 1 (we used a neutral color)1 Fat quarter color 2 (we used paisley)1/4 yd. color 3 (we used brown)Cut-away stabilizer1/4 yd. medium weight stabilizer Chalk wheelDesign CR0084

The fabric listed above will make four utensil and napkin holders.

1. For ease in hooping, embroider designs before cutting pocket front: mark outside edge of 41/2” x 41/2” square with chalk wheel on Color 1. Mark center of square. Hoop fabric with two pieces of cut-away stabilizer. Embroider design. Cut stabilizer and fabric to measure 41/2” x 41/2”.

2. For each holder: Color 2 cut two 9” x 41/2”. Color 3 cut 41/2” x 11/2” for the binding on the pocket, and one 11/2” x 29” for the binding on the outside of the holder. Medium weight stabilizer: one 9” x 41/2”.

3. Bind off the top of the embroidered fabric with one 41/2” x 11/2” piece of fabric.

4. Layer one 9” x 41/2” fabric wrong side up, medium weight 9” x 41/2” stabilizer, one 9” x 41/2” fabric right side up, embroidered pocket piece right side up at bottom edge of 9” x 41/2” piece. Pin in place and bind off with 11/2” x 29” piece of fabric.

Paisley Dish Towel

Items you will need:Dish towel or fabric to construct a towel.Coordinating fabric for the band on the towel-we used scraps from the other projects.Fibrous water soluble stabilizerChalk wheelDesign CR0081

Use 1/4” seam allowance.Suggest using same color bobbin thread.

1. Measure width of towel, cut the number of strips by the width number. Measure the height of the band on the towel and add 1/2”. Cut fabric scraps. (11/2”w x 21/2”h was used for the towel)

2. Stitch the strips together. Fold sides to the back of the fabric 1/4”, then fold top and bottom to the back of the fabric 1/4”. Edge stitch the band to the front of the towel.

3. Mark center of design on the towel. Hoop the towel with one piece of fibrous water soluble stabilizer on the back of the towel. Embroider design. Remove from hoop. Remove fibrous water soluble stabilizer close to edge of design.

Use 1/4” seams to assemble the pot holder.

1. Mark the center of the design on the 7” x 7” neutral color piece of fabric. Hoop the fabric with cut-away stabilizer. Embroider the design. Remove from hoop. Trim the cut-away stabilizer close to edge of the designs.

2. Stitch the 7” x 21/2” striped pieces of fabric to the opposite sides of the 7” x 7” embroidered piece of fabric.

3. Stitch one 21/2” x 21/2” burgundy pieces of fabric to the end of the 7” x 21/2” floral pieces of fabric. Stitch one 21/2” x 21/2” green pieces of fabric to the other end of the 7” x 21/2” floral piece of fabric. Repeat for other side.

4. Stitch the striped piece to the main piece of fabric. Repeat.

5. Lay the 9” x 9” piece of heat resistant fabric front side down and the finished piece front side up. Pin.

6. Stitch in the ditch around the embroidered piece.

7. Bind the outside edge forming a loop in one corner.

Paisley Table RunnerItems you will need:7 Fat quarters in coordinating colors 1/8 yd. Fabric for binding or 92” packaged binding (we used brown)3/4 yd. Fabric in a neutral color Low loft batting (37” x 16”) Cut-away stabilizerChalk wheelDesigns CR0082 and CR0083

Use 1/4” seams to assemble the table runner.

1. Cut fabric: Neutral color, cut one 11” x 11” piece of fabric, one 16” x 16” piece of fabric, and one 16” x 37” piece of fabric. Cut 32 11/2” x 4” from the seven fat quarters. Cut 2” x 92” from the fabric for the binding.

2. Cut the 11” x 11” piece of fabric from corner to corner to form two triangles.

3. End triangle pieces: mark the center of the design on the top triangle pieces so it will embroider 11/2” from the long edge. Hoop the triangle shaped piece of fabric with cut-away stabilizer. Embroider the designs. Remove from hoop. Trim the cut-away stabilizer close to edge of the designs.

4. Center piece: mark the center of the designs so it will embroider 11/2” from the outside edge of the 16” x 16” piece of fabric. Hoop the fabric with cut away stabilizer. Embroider the designs. Remove from hoop. Trim the cut-away stabilizer close to edge of the designs.

5. Stitch 16 11/2” x 4” pieces of fabric together to form a band for the inside edge of the 16” x 16” of fabric. Repeat for the opposite side.

6. Stitch the fabric bands to the outside edges of the 16” x 16” piece of fabric.

7. Stitch the long edge of the triangles to the fabric bands.

8. Lay the back piece front side down, the batting, then the finished piece front side up. Cut the fabric and batting the same size as the finished piece. Pin.

9. Bind the outside edge of the table runner. Press.
