Gillian Doyle will carry the best wishes of the Donegal business community with her to Dublin at the start of March when she represents the county in the final of Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur (IBYE). The Portnoo-based young entrepreneur scooped the Regional Award for Best Business Idea at the regional finals in Sligo at the end of January. Gillian had qualified for the competition when she won the ‘Best New Idea’ category in the Donegal IBYE finals in November. Her company, Cerebreon Technologies, specialise in high-end data analytics and business management systems. They provide intelligent software that will help save time and money in the personal insolvency sector. Gillian says that Portnoo was the perfect place to establish and grow the business adding that she has been truly amazed by the level of support she has received in Donegal. “I’m not talking about grants or financial assistance, it is the support, the advice, learning and mentoring. It has been nothing short of phenomenal. The Local Enterprise Office has been sosupportive and so helpful.” Head of Enterprise in Donegal, Michael Tunney, said it is fantastic for the county to have another business competing in the national finals. “Since the IBYE competition started, businesses coming through the competition in Donegal have performed at a consistently high level. The contest is a springboard for young entrepreneurs who want to start or expand their business and we are very pleased with the spirit of entrepreneurship in the county among our young people.” “Taking part in the contest makes her aware of the supports and services on offer at the Local Enterprise Office and we’re delighted to say that many past participants are still engaging and working to strengthen their business.” “The competition in Donegal this year was once again of exceptionally high standard. We are very proud of the three businesses who moved on to represent us at the Regional Awards and absolutely delighted that Gillian will now contest the National Finals in March.”

Location: Balyholey Farm Shop, Raphoe.
Ballyholey Farm, a family farm on the main road between Letterkenny and Lifford has built up a strong reputation with its customers for offering its own homegrown vegetables and beef and providing another outlet for other Donegal produce.
John Graham, the farmer behind the farm, has a passion for farming using traditional methods and sharing his story directly with his customers. This event will offer the opportunity to hear about what motivates John and how he has adopted a different approach to farming to build a stronger connection and loyalty with his end users.
At the core of this is John’s passion and ambition to bring the customer closer to the farm, so that they have a greater appreciation and awareness of what he does. There is no doubt that John’s approach takes great effort and commitment, however the he believes this is worthwhile and has allowed him to operate his business in a way that is true to his vision and his plans for the future of the farm.
