    COAL HANDLING PLANT

    The coal handling plant was commissioned to unload the coal from the wagon and

    deliver it to coal bunker or to stack it in the yard as per requirement. The coal are

    dumped by the wagon tippler or the track hopper and conveyed to the bunkerthrough different conveyors, crusher ,vibrator, screen, stacker cum reclaimer. The

    main moto is to keep healthy bunker position and to release maximum no.s of

    wagons after unloading within a specific time to reduce the demurrage.

    The coal is pulverized for complete combustion. The reason is

    1. For maximum air contact .

    2. Good heat value for proper oxygen.

    PLOUGH FEEDER

    The plough mechanism is carried and transported on a heavy duty,

    self propelled , four wheeled frame that runs on the rails directly above the

    conveyor structure.

    VIBRATORS

    a) MECHANICAL VIBRATING FEEDERS

    These vibrators are located below the surge hopper which

    receives coal from conveyor. One discharge the coal from

    hopper by vibrating mechanically.

    Rated capacity:-600-800 ton/hr

    Designed capacity:-960 ton/hr

    b) ELECTROMAGNETIC VIBRATING FEEDERS

    The electromagnetic vibrating feeders are situated

    Below wagon tippler hoppers

    Below sick wagon unloading hoppers.

    Below reclaim hoppers.

    It separates magnetic material from the coal.

    WAGON TIPPLER

    Two rotary type wagon tipplers are located on a two rail tracks that are arranged in

    parallel. The tipplers can rotate by 170 degrees in one direction.

    VIBRATING SCREEN

    It is installed before the crusher to screen out coal particles of size less than 20

    mm.

    CRUSHER

    Generally the power station is having secondary crusher for crushing coal to size

    less than 20 mm. i.e. the size before feeding to the coal bunker.

    STACKER CUM RECLAIMER

    These are installed on conveyor. The equipment, stacker is meant for stacking coal

    when there is no demand of coal feeding to bunker but there are loaded wagons of

    coal. Reclaimer is an equipment that reclaims coal to bunker when there is no

    supply.

    MOBILE TRIPPER

    The tripper is provided in the conveyor to feed the material at desired location on

    either side or along the conveyor with the help of chutes fitted with tippler itself.

    MAGNETIC SEPARATOR

    The cross belt magnetic separator should be mounted such that the magnet

    cleaning belt is at right angle to the conveyor belt over which it is installed.

    CONVEYOR BELT

    Coal is being carried from one point to other by conveyor that are belts. Conveyor

    rotates upon different types of pulleys such as head pulley, tail pulley, snub pulley,

    bend pulley, take up pulley, carrier side idler roller, return side idler roller, self

    aligning roller, guide roller etc.Generally head pulley on discharged pulley is

    rubber lagged to increase the co-efficient of friction. Snub pulley is used to

    increase the area of contact of drive pulley with conveyor belt. Take- up pulley is

    assigned to take the elongation of belt. Three types of take-up are used- vertical

    gravity take-up, horizontal gravity take-up, horizontal screw take-up.4-ply nylon

    belt is now being used in K.T.P.S.

    SNUB DRUM

    Its action is to

    Minimize friction of the belt.

    Increase contact point to take the load.

    Maintaining constant speed.

    DUST EXTRACTION SYSTEM

    A dust extraction system is installed to extract the dust generating source to a dust

    collector and releasing the dust free air into the atmosphere. The dust is transported

    in a fluidized state after mixing with air through the ducting. The receiving hoods

    are installed at dust generating points to catch all the dusts.
