Ourcustomerisa$25billionrevenuesubsidiaryofaFortune50company.Thissubsidiary

providescommercialfinancethroughavarietyofbusinessunits.

TheChallenge

OurcustomerneededtointegrateitsBusinessIntelligence/DataWarehousinginitiativesthat

hadbeendevelopedindependentlyinsevendifferentbusinessunits.Additionally,aprofusionof

datamartsmadeenterpriselevelanalysisofdataextremelydifficult.Ourcustomerdecidedto

investasingleEnterpriseDataWarehousebuiltontheTeradataplatform.However,the

purchaseofTeradatahardwarewassimplythefirst(andeasiest!)stepinimplementingthe

EnterpriseDataWarehouse.

TheSolution:Theprojectwasinitiatedwitha4personmodelingteamwhichincluded2architectsfrom

Techlogix.UsingtheTeradataLogicalDataModelforFinancialServicesasastartingpoint,the

modelersworkedoncreatedanenterpriserepresentationoftheFinanceCorpskeydata.As

portionsofthedatamodelwerecompleted,additionalETLresourceswereaddedtotheteam

toinitiatetheloadingofdataintothenewEDW.Thiswasfollowedbyanaseriesofprojects

whichimplementedthecreationofreportsinBusinessObjectswhichduplicatedanexisting

Oraclebasedreportingdatamart.Thisservedtovalidatethemodelandthereportsgenerated

fromit.

Afterthisinitialvalidation,theteamworkedonaddingadditionalfunctionalareastothedata

modelmostsignificantlyincludingSiebelprospectdata.InparallelateamoffrontenddevelopersworkedonBusinessObjectsuniversesandreportstoproductenduserfacing

reportingandanalytics.

Overtime,theconsultantteammigratedfromalargelyonsiteTeradatateamtosubstantially

Techlogixleadteamwithsignificantdevelopmentresourcesoffshore.Theoffshoreteamwas

involvedinETLandfrontenddevelopmentaswellasprovidingproductionsupportand

monitoring.
