Mentor Credential Analysis: The EPP does its best to keep up with the credentials of their current mentor teachers. The list above

shows 158 mentors that have been used since 2010 in early field experiences, junior level methods courses and student teaching. The

EPP requires student teaching mentors to complete a credential form as well as an I-9. Junior level method mentors and early field

experience mentors are not required to fill out the credential form; therefore, we do have some gaps in the table above. Moving

forward, the EPP will require the credential form to be completed and on file for all mentor teachers.

For the mentor teachers that have their certification information on file, 100% of them are teaching in their certified area. Since this

information is not complete for all mentors, we cannot accurately say that this is the case for all mentors; however, it shows that the

majority of our candidates are placed with teachers who are teaching in their certified areas.

According to this data, the average number of years of the mentor teachers that we use (and have the accurate information) is 19. As

you can see from the table below, we have 16 mentor teachers who are very experienced with having over 30 years of teaching

experience. It is also important to point out that all mentors have at least four years of teaching experience, with the majority of our

mentors having ten or more years of experience. The EPP has maintained consistency in the requirement that all teachers have at least

three years of teaching experience in order to qualify as a mentor teacher for the EPP’s teacher candidates.

This data also reveals that the EPP offers teacher candidates a number of opportunities and locations for completing their fieldwork

and student teaching. During method courses, students are often placed in Madison Consolidated Schools, Southwestern Jefferson

County Schools, Scott County School District, as well as a parochial school located in Madison, Indiana. When student teaching,

candidates are often placed within these local districts as well as urban districts located in Indianapolis, Indiana; Cincinnati, Ohio;

Louisville, Kentucky; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
