O’Mahony was con- cussed at the Millenni- um Stadium and while he has shown no ill-effects, his in- volvement against England hinges on the Interna- tional Rugby Board’s concus- sion guidelines. Ireland will continue to monitor the fit- ness of Gordon D’Arcy and Keith Earls before announ- cing their team on Friday. D’Arcy has a dead leg and Earls a shoulder injury sus- tained during the 30-22 open- ing-day victory over Wales. Centre Brian O’Driscoll, prop Mike Ross and full-back Rob Kearney are available for selection. England’s visit to Dublin is already being viewed as a championship decider between the only two sides who retain genuine Grand Slam ambitions after France were upstaged by Italy. Scrum-half Conor Murray, however, believes it is too soon in the competition to start talking of title shootouts. “You can lose a Grand Slam or Triple Crown in this game, but you can’t win it,” he said. “Even teams like Italy are stepping up to the plate this year and there will be big challenges after Sunday. “England are confident and have a right to be. They had a big win against New Zealand in the autumn and now con- vincing win against Scotland on Saturday. They’ve every reason to be confident and we won’t begrudge them that.” CORK double winner Teddy McCarthy is going dual again this season as manager to both the hurlers and footballers of Newcastle West GAA club in Limerick. McCarthy confirmed last night he is to manage the club’s senior footballers and intermediate hurlers in 2013. The Sars man took his first session this week and is due to finalise backroom set-ups for both teams in the coming days. McCarthy will hope to help the footballers after successive county final defeats to Monaleen and Dromcollogher-Broadford. Boosting their chances will be the 2012 County Premier U21 football winning side. The Cork man will be hoping to be the first ‘outside’ manager to lead Newcastle West into a championship campaign. His appointment in Newcastle West comes months after an unsuccessful one-year spell as Laois senior hurling manager. At club level, he enjoyed success with Bandon — guiding them to the Cork IHC title in 2011 and last year’s PIHC decider. He also guided Bandon to last year’s Premier IHC decider, but they succumbed to Ballinhassig. City boss Tommy Dunne confirmed the news at the team’s training camp at Fota Resort hotel last night and the Cambridge-born defender could well end up on the coach- ing staff at Bishop- stown. “I am delighted to see Dan on the way back to the club even though he has work commitments now out- side of the football. He will sign back as an am- ateur but if things go well for him then there’s nothing stop- ping him from up-grading to a professional player again. We are looking to bring him into a coaching role as well,” said Dunne whose side open their pre-season campaign with a friendly against Leeds United at Turner’s Cross tomorrow night (7.45) Dunne has Sean Brosnan from Limerick in on trial this week and he is also in talks with both Gary Buckley and Danny Morrissey. City play Leeds, Longford, Cliftonville twice in the Setanta Cup, Cobh Ram- blers, Douglas Hall in the Munster Senior Cup and Wa- terford United in the coming weeks before they open their league campaign away to Limerick at Thomond Park on March 9. “We will finish off our pre-season on March 1 against Waterford and tomor- row night against Leeds, we’d hope to give everyone a run and basically field two differ- ent teams over the 90 minutes,” he added. Murray: Signs back with Cork City.
