General Purpose Current-Limiting FuseA general purpose current-limiting power fuse is one that iscapable of interrupting all currents from its rated interruptingrating down to the current that causes melting of the fusibleelement in one hour.

15KV AND 15KV FERRULE MOUNTED FUSESAmp-trap CS-3 E-rated 5kV and 15kV fuses haveeither 2" or 3" diameter barrels with ferrules and aremounted in spring reinforced clips. They are UL listedas "general purpose current-limiting fuses" and arefor use indoors (or outdoors in a weatherproof enclo-sure). The unique time-current characteristic of FerrazShawmut E-rated fuses allows them to be closelysized to transformer full-load rated current, as recom-mended by IEEE guidelines, without being affectedby normal magnetizing inrush current. CS-3 fuses aretypically sized at transformer rated current of 133%,thereby providing superior overall protection.
