从 2006 年开始， GPS 行业在 IT市场萌芽并且迅速兴起，为何今天却渐行渐远？一直以来，盗版一直都是中国 IT 业界无法回避的伤疤。 GPS 产业也难逃此劫。自从 GPS 行业兴盛开始，“空机 + 盗版”的销售模式便如影随形。起初由于GPS 硬件产品门槛较低，利润丰厚，在众多其他领域独霸一方的品牌纷纷进入这一领域。而一些“山寨”厂家也不甘寂寞，转身投入 GPS 市场。 IT 卖场上经营手机、 MP3、 MP4等电子产品的大小经销商更是争先恐后地加入了 GPS 的叫卖阵营。 在众多产业机会主义者的投机行为下， GPS 这个新兴行业经历了一段急速膨胀的发展。数据显示， GPS 设备产量从2005 年的 267 万部高速增长至 2008 年的 2303 万部，年均复合增长率高达 105.1% 。
