MSA’s FireHawk™ Air Mask is the premier self-contained breathing apparatus for the municipal fire service. Designed with the input ofhundreds of firefighters, and including a multitudeof MSA’s exclusive features, the new FireHawk AirMask truly embodies Safety, Simplicity, andReliability.

Safety

Understanding that “protecting the protector” hasbeen our calling for 90 years, MSA works hard toprovide firefighters with the most safety featuresavailable on any SCBA. Listed here are just a fewof them:

■ MSA’s patented Quick-Fill® System makes everyMSA SCBA capable of both receiving anddonating air to firefighters in need. Although the NFPA standard requires all brands of SCBAto incorporate a receive-only RIC connection, only the MSA Air Mask can make full utilizationof the fitting with our exclusive transfilling capability.

Safety. Simplicity. Reliability.■ An NFPA-compliant emergency egress system,

integral to the SCBA waist belt, is available as an option. This Rescue Belt comes completewith Kevlar line (50 ft. or 75 ft.) and rappellinghardware.

■ The all new Airframe™ carrier and harnesscomes standard, with large side handles and a central attachment point for pulling firefightersto safety in rescue scenarios.

■ MSA’s Ultra Elite® Facepiece is designed with a one-way check valve to prevent againstcross-contamination among firefighters.Although regulators are shared among users, harmful pathogens (SARS, hepatitis, flu virus)are kept within each individual-issue facepiece.

■ Wireless electronics add safety benefits byeliminating snag hazards that can accompany unnecessary wires on an SCBA.

■ CBRN positive protection is provided by MSA’sexclusive Tetraplex™ shield, which serves as the first line of defense in preventing chemicalwarfare agents from initial contact with the critically important second-stage diaphragm.

■ A new flow-control cylinder valve reduces the propulsive thrust of cylinders if they areaccidentally opened without proper restraint.

■ A buddy light on the ICM Tx lets fellow firefighters easily identify a firefighter that is in need of assistance. An additional light, located on the HUD Receiver, lets others knowwhen you are low on air, reinforcing the distinct communication of the Audi-Larm®

warning device.

■ The Heads-Up Display has an automatic dimming feature in low ambient light to protect the visibility of firefighters.

Reliability

Because your life depends on it, your SCBA mustbe reliable. To help ensure continuous reliability of the Air Mask, MSA uses the most progressivedesign, manufacturing, and quality assurancepractices globally available. We also keep youinformed to ensure the continued safe and reliable operation of your MSA Air Mask in thefield. Listed are just a few key contributors to theAir Mask’s historic reliability.

■ In-house manufacturing of nearly every pneumatic, electronic, and structural compo-nent of the Air Mask to ensure optimal quality and performance.

■ Use of the highest quality and grades of stainless steel and aluminum with select blendsof Kevlar, rubber, and plastic molding com-pounds for the highest strength and durability.

■ Teflon hard-coat anodized valve bodies to minimize the friction of internal components and maximize their service life.

■ Electronics designed for ruggedness and immunity to fire ground RFI (radio frequencyinterference). The Air Mask’s electronics mustfirst pass through MSA’s stringent in-house RFItesting chamber to ensure reliable operationbefore you use them.

■ 100% inspection of all Air Mask critical attributes in production.

■ An ISO 9001:2000 certified organization.

■ Responsible maintenance policiescommunicated to users by direct mail and overthe internet, with the appropriate training andtechnical updates to help ensure the continueddependable operation of the Air Mask.

■ A “best-in-class” service network with over2,000 certified repair facilities and a team ofservice specialists, committed to resolving customer issues any time, anywhere, allbacked by a lifetime warranty.

Simplicity

The new FireHawk Air Mask has been designed tobe simple to use and easy to own. Ease of use isaccomplished with more user options than anySCBA on the market. Ease of ownership speaks tothe Air Mask’s low cost of ownership and MSA’slong-standing commitment to providing customerswith the upgrade options they need. Here are just a few examples.

■ An optional swiveling lumbar pad for maximumfreedom of movement and comfort when crawling or climbing.

■ A slide-to-connect or push-to-connect regulatorattachment to meet the widest range of yourpreferences.

■ An integrated shut-off to prevent the loss ofcylinder air when disconnecting the second-stage regulator.

■ An open-form cylinder band to allow rapid drop-in cylinder replacement, eliminating web-bing adjustments and secondary retaining clips.

■ Modular “stand alone” electronic componentsfor easy maintenance, with no wires to routeand no complicated mounting brackets.

■ A power-saving mode on the heads-up display, which is set as a default to maximize batterylife, with a continuous-on mode that can beselected to provide a constant LED display.

■ The optional ICM Tx is a single unit that combines all of the features of the highly-successful ICM 2000® Plus Integrated PASSdevice with the functionality of the Heads-Up-Display (HUD) transmitter. As a single compo-nent of the Air Mask, less space is required onthe firefighter’s chest and the number of typesof batteries used on the Air Mask has been consolidated.

The ICM Tx provides the wearer a digital displayof time remaining in the cylinder based on thefirefighter’s previous three minutes of breathing, battery status, cylinder pressure (both numeri-cally as well as with an icon) and heat alarms. The unit is capable of data logging the last 25 hours of use.

■ A maintenance policy that delivers the lowestpossible cost of ownership, based on the frequency of use of the Air Mask. For manydepartments, this means only conducting anannual flow test according to the NFPA 1852 standard. Even a busy department using onecylinder every other day would find the cost of maintaining an SCBA to be less than $5 per year.

■ State-of-the-art regulator designs that haveamong the fewest number of parts in the industry. The PR-14 regulator has only 14replaceable parts and the Firehawk MMR regulator has just 22! Both regulators can bemaintained without the need of special tools.

■ NFPA and CBRN upgrade kits to help usersmeet the most current performance standards.

MSA has you protected with the latestenhancements to our FireHawk Air Mask, the fire service’s FIRST NFPA 1981-2002

edition, NIOSH-approved CBRN self-contained breathing apparatus.

MSA’s new FireHawk CBRN SCBA wasdeveloped to provide you with positive protection from CBRN agents, according tothe stringent live-agent test regimen of the NIOSH approval process. Because conventional silicone diaphragms are amongthe SCBA components most vulnerable to CBRN agent permeation, our positive-protection design seals the new diaphragmof the Firehawk® regulator from any initialcontact with contaminants.

The key to this protection are these revolutionary components, which lie within the CBRN version of thesecond-stage regulator:

• MSA’s exclusive Tetraplex™ ProtectiveShield (patent pending). It serves as thefirst line of defense in preventing chemicalwarfare agents from contacting the vital components of the regulator andentering the user’s air stream.

• A permeation-resistant regulatordiaphragm made of a proprietary rubbercompound. It serves as the second line ofdefense in protecting the user’s breathingzone.

• A modified valve core body (the engine ofthe regulator). It supports the new shieldand diaphragm with a high-performanceair-delivery system.

These components, plus one of the industry’sbest-fitting facepieces, MSA’s Ultra Elite®

Facepiece, ensure reliable and effective respiratory protection not only from agentsthat might be used in a terrorist attack, but also from many of the lethal byproductsof combustion that are encountered in everyday firefighting. Chemical plants, nuclear facilities, laboratories, and otherindustries harbor unknown and life-threaten-ing environments that you might have toface. With MSA’s new CBRN FireHawk Air Mask, you can be positive you are protected on every call.

Rescue Belt

In a continuation of MSA’s pursuit of firefighter safety, the Rescue Beltis being introduced to the fire service. This is an NFPA-compliantemergency egress system that is unique to MSA. The belt can be integrated into the carrier and harness assembly of the MSA Vulcan or Airframe Carrier and Harness assemblies. A 50 foot or 75 foot Kevlar line with a descender and caribiner is weaved into the belt to allow a trapped fire fighter to escape to either the ground or to a floor below the fire.

The belt is available in two lengths, standard (54 inches) and long (74 inches).

Emergency Egress System

Nightfighter® Heads-Up-Display

The Nightfighter Heads-Up-Display (HUD) exceeds the latest requirements for firefighting SCBA as specified in NFPA 1981, 2002

Edition that requires all NFPA-complaint SCBA be equipped with atleast one heads-up-display.

When you open your Air Mask’s cylinder valve, the Nightfighter HUDautomatically activates, displaying the cylinder pressure reading in25% increments.

The wireless Nightfighter system consists of three components: a transmitter that mounts on the Air Mask’s gaugeline, a facepiecebracket that attaches to the Ultra Elite facepiece, and a receiver thatattaches to the facepiece bracket.

The Firehawk MMR, MSA’s mask-mounted regulator assembly, is fully compliant with NIOSH 42 CFR 84 and NFPA 1981, 2002 edition. Available with two different attachment systems, the Firehawk MMR truly redefines ease-of-use and ease-of-maintenance, combined with outstanding performance.

The Firehawk second-stage regulator features a unique Slide-To-Connect (STC) attachment system that allows firefighters to hang the regulator on the facepiece in the “ready position,” then simply push it into the facepiece when SCBA air is needed. Doffing of the regulator, while wearing gloves, is also easy with two large release buttons that automatically turn-off the flow of air as the regulator is doffed. A dual-swivel feature on the pressure hose provides maximum freedom-of-head movement and the silicone hose material ensures hose flexibility even at very cold temperatures.

In addition to the STC system, MSA also offers a second connection option for the Firehawk Regulator, the Push-to-Connect (PTC). The PTC’s Adapter self-centers the Firehawk regulator and the loud dual sound of the regulator engaging onto the facepiece provides you with confidence that the Firehawk PTC is securely attached to your facepiece—an action that takes just seconds, when seconds count!

Maintenance is also a breeze, considering the Firehawk design requires no tools, adhesives, or sealants, and has approximately 70% fewer parts as compared to other regulators on the market. Additionally, there are no internal adjustments required. Any adjustments to the regulator may be accomplished at a single adjustment point through the outlet port of the regulator.

Ease of use and maintenance, combined with outstanding performance, makes the Firehawk MMR clearly the product of choice. In keeping withthe MSA tradition of upgradeability, the Firehawk regulator can easily be added to any existing MSAMMR with Ultra Elite facepiece with a simple upgrade kit. DragonFly® PASS

The DragonFly PASS from MSA was among the first PASSdevices designed to meet the stringent NFPA-1982, 1998Edition standard.

This standard calls for automatic (hands-off) activation ofstand-alone PASS devices as well as two jumps in pre-alarmvolume. The DragonFly PASS exceeds the standard by offer-ing a range of pre-alarm volumes and tones to help usersavoid unnecessary progression to full alarm. Super-bright LED indicators provide visual indications: green indicates normal operation; red “wig-wag” indicates pre-alarm;

and continuous red indicates full alarm. In addition, an easilyaccessible activation button allows users to summon helpmanually.

The stand-alone DragonFly SA PASS features a tethered keydesigned to be attached to your jump seat, locker, or vehicleinterior. When you jump to action, the key pulls out, and yourDragonFly SA PASS activates and is on guard, monitoringyour every move. Once the job is complete, you can turn offyour stand-alone PASS by simply replacing the key andpressing reset twice. See Bulletin 0119-25-MC.

MSA’s new ICM Tx Integrated PASS combines the safety features of the ICM 2000 Plus integrated PASS with the functionality of the Heads-Up-Display (HUD) transmitter in a new integrated PASS device that’s fully compliant with the latest requirements of the NFPA 1982-1998 edition PASSstandard. Because it is now a single component on the Air Mask, firefighters benefit from a more compact andlighter weight (1/3 lb less!) design.

The ICM Tx has been designed for maximum reliabilityand durability with the use of a new solid stateaccelerometer to detect the motion of a firefighter. The use of this technology provides a durable device that is sen-sitive to motion and resistant to false alarms.

Other PASS features include:

• An integrated computer module for datalogging the most recent 25 hours of use and downloading this information onto your PC.

• A digital display of battery status, cylinder pressure, heat alarm, and service time remaining.

• A green LED “buddy light” which turns red when the PASS goes into full alarm.

• An optional heat sensor with alarm to alert you to dangerous heat levels.

The ICM Tx is a multifunctional HUD transmitter. It transmits 1/4 increment cylinder pressure status, PASS pre-alarm warnings and battery status to the HUD Receiver through aclose-range digitally encoded radio signal. Users can choose the HUD intermittent-mode or thecontinuous-mode.

The ICM Tx is modular and easy to maintain with a single-threaded connection to the SCBA. Anyexisting MSA MMR Air Mask can be easily upgraded by simply threading on the new ICM Tx.

The Quick-Fill® System

The patented Quick-Fill System lets MSA Air Mask users refilland transfill air cylinders while the SCBA is worn, withoutremoving the air cylinder—even in IDLH atmospheres. Use thisMSA-exclusive option to:

• Fill an SCBA cylinder from a mobile compressor or cascadesystem in less than a minute.

• Transfill between two cylinders, providing an EmergencyBreathing System.

• Extend the air supply over longer durations, using a remotecompressed-air source.

Because performance is not affected, MSA Air Masks retainNIOSH certification during use of the Quick-Fill System.

The Quick-Fill System uses a special adapter assembly. On belt-mounted units, it’s located on the regulator, while MMR unitshave a junction block and fitting installed on the gauge line. AirMasks compliant to NFPA-1981, 2002 Edition have the Quick-FillURC fitting located at the Audi-Larm warning device. A Quick-Fillhose with a quick-disconnect connects the air source to theadapter for air transfer. See Bulletin 0105-92-MC for a Question& Answer overview of Quick-Fill Systems.

The Helmet Communication Systemfrom MSA is a state-of-the-art radiointerface device which significantlyimproves the user’s ability to receiveand send messages even in loudambient-noise environments. It goes wherever you go. The systemconsists of a helmet-mounted microphone and ear speaker assembly that weighs 5.3 ouncesand easily snaps onto the user’s firehelmet or industrial-style helmet’sratchet suspension. The helmetmic/ear speaker assembly connectsto a lapel microphone or optionalstand-alone PTT (push-to-talk) unit. The lapel microphone and PTT arepermanently fitted with a connectorfor attachment to the specific radioof choice. The Helmet Communication System also offers a plug-in truck communicationadapter that can be used by firefighters, along with their helmet microphone assembly, on the way to a fire scene or other incident. Once the firefighter arrives at the scene, the trucksystem cable is unplugged from the helmet microphone, and the helmet microphone cableend is connected to the user’s lapel mic or PTT.

The user of the Helmet Communication System has uninterrupted communication from thetime the alarm sounds until the incident is over.

For more complete information, see Bulletin 3639-01-MC.

MSA’s ClearCommand CommunicationsSystem is designed specifically to meet themodern communications needs of firefighters.Because it’s available in two versions, amplifi-er and amplifier with radio interface, firefight-ing teams can be properly fitted for the job athand. Also, the systems are designed for“shared-use” of the amplifier with a unique“bus-bar” arrangement, so individual issue isnot required.

The ClearCommand systems feature an inter-nally mounted microphone coupled with alarge-diameter (50mm) amplifier speaker foroptimal clarity and volume. Using a propri-etary circuit design, the system delivers morethan twice the volume of a facepiece alone.Mounted in an “out-of-the-way” position, theClearCommand System doesn’t block vision ormechanical communication. The Ultra Elite’smechanical voicemitter is still fully functional, even with the system installed.

The radio interface version features the same amplifier as the amp-only version, combined withan ear-speaker for incoming radio messages and a lapel mic assembly for interface with over 100radios. The lapel mic can be used as a component of the ClearCommand system or as a stand-alone hand mic.

Both the amplifier and radio interface models are intrinsically safe, and meet the applicablerequirements of NIOSH and NFPA 1981, 2002 edition.

For use by workers who must wear corrective lenses, the Spectacle Kit canbe easily inserted into the facepiece. The kit includes a wire support, rubberguide, and pair of metal-frame specta-cles. There are two kits for the Ultra Elitefacepiece; one uses a side wire supportto hold the lenses in the facepiece, whilethe other uses a center support to position the unit. Desired adjustment isobtained by moving the spectacles inand out of the rubber guide and up and down the wire support. One size of spectacle frame is used (S-7 shape, 48-mm lens size) with Universal Bridge Corrective Lenses that can beobtained from local sources. The Spectacle Kit can be used with a nosecup.

CBRN Ultra Elite® Gas Mask

Firefighters do not always need SCBA protection, especially outside the immediate firescene. Once the hazard has been assessed, air-purifying respirators (APR) may makethe most sense for low concentrations of certain contaminants. With the new Ultra EliteCBRN Gas Mask, your department benefits from using a common platform facepiece for both APR and SCBA applications, allowing standardized training and eliminatingredundant fit-testing.

APR and SCBA facepieces should not be used interchangeably. For that reason, MSA is introducing the Ultra Elite CBRN Gas Mask for use in the fire service and to firstresponders. The facepiece has been trusted in the fire service for more than 10 years. In that time, the Ultra Elite has been field-proven to provide firefighters with exceptionalfit, comfort, and value.

The MSA CBRN Canister meets or exceeds all performance requirements of the newNIOSH CBRN Standard by effectively removing harmful gases, vapors, and particulatesso that the user can confidently breathe safely. The canister contains chemical sorbentsand a P100 filter to attract, retain, and neutralize contaminants.

PremAire® Cadet RespiratorThe Assemble-To-Order System

MSA offers more PremAire System Respirator choices than ever before.Thousands of possible combinations let firefighters select just the rightPremAire Respirator for the job.

MSA’s Assemble-To-Order (ATO) System makes ordering the right unit easierand faster than ever. Instead of choosing from a handful of completePremAire assemblies, users can order a custom-made unit with every optionexactly as desired. The ATO System works by allowing users to create theirown part numbers. Each digit of an ATO part number represents a specificcomponent, so that the entire part number represents a finished respiratorbuilt exactly to the desired specifications.

Using the ATO System below is easy. Just select the number or letter that corresponds to the choice of components and fill in the appropriate box. Anumber or letter from each category must be selected. For example, to order a PremAire System respirator with nylon belt assembly, right-hip 10-minutecarbon fiber escape cylinder, dual-supply option with 8-inch hose, FirehawkSlide-To-Connect 30'' solid cover regulator, a non-NFPA black Hycar UltraElite Facepiece, size medium, with large nosecup and large EZ-Don HeadHarness, Foster steel quick-disconnect and a hard side carrying case, theATO part number would be: C-PS151E-11M24-G-1.

Evolution 5200 TIC Performance

Only MSA delivers High Sense image quality up to 320°F, the range that 80% of the time matches the temperature range in most structural fires. In addition, only MSA delivers increased sensitivity in Low Sense mode withbetter high temperature image quality. The shaded color in both High andLow Sense indicates the Evolution 5200's new Heat Seeker PLUS.

Evolution 5000 TIC Performance

The Evolution 5000 TIC has an expanded range of High Sensitivity mode—up to 300°F. Though lower than its successor, the Evolution 5000 outperformscompetitive TICs by giving over 100° more High Sense range than competi-tive TICs. Also, notice how the Evolution 5000 has heat-seeking colorized pixels in both High and Low Sense modes. Both the Evolution 5000 and theEvolution 5200 also have a 15% saturation rate, compared to competitiveTICs, which can have saturation rates less than 1%. This means that theEvolution TICS can deliver high quality images in higher temperatures thancompetitive TICs.

Competitive Performance

The limited High Sense temperature range on competitive TICs means that better image quality is lost sooner. Low Sense then becomes the stan-dard operating mode, using only a fraction of the total available sensitivity. In addition, competitive TICs lack Heat Seeking color in High Sense mode, an important tool to determine the presence and direction of the fire.

Low Cost – High Value

As Fire Service TICs become more affordable, MSA again takes the lead byadding new features and increasing performance – while lowering both ini-tial and lifetime costs. Only MSA offers a 2-year sensor warranty—twice thecoverage of competitive TICs! The increased value of MSA TICs is realizedthrough expanded TIC uses, time saved and SAFETY – every day!

Comparison of Fire Service TIC Performance*

High and Low Sensitivity

Most TICs generate thermal images in either High Sense or Low Sensemodes, depending on the temperature of the scene. High Sense modedelivers the best image quality – but has a limited temperature range.Low Sense mode trades image quality for a wider temp range to keepthe TIC working in high heat.

sensors currently installed in the instrument. The TIM System is so advanced that if aninstrument is not in proper working condition, it

will let you know what is wrong. Beyond simplycalibrating a given instrument, here is what theTIM System’s “smarts” will do for you:

• Automatically generate test protocol based oninstrument sensor configuration.

• Adjust run time for instrument and pump type toensure shortest test time.

• Check instrument software and sensorcompatibility.

• Notify user if gas for instrument is not assignedto TCC.

• Synchronize date and time of instrument withpersonal computer.

• Print computer-generated test receipt.

TIM® System – The Total Instrument Manager

Calibrate Four Instruments Simultaneously

The TIM System is designed to calibrate up tofour instruments at the same time— with only one

computer and four TIM Control Centers. Whetherone, two, three, or four instruments are beingcalibrated, the TIM System ensures that each

instrument is fully calibrated and ready to go!

Immediate Calibration Results

The user can set up the system for a bump test or afull calibration. After an instrument has been bump-tested or calibrated, the TIM System immediatelydisplays and prints the results of the bump test orcalibration. The display on the TCC (TIM ControlCenter) unit not only shows whether an instrumentpassed or failed the bump test or calibration, butalso displays the results for each sensor.

Password Availability

The TIM System allows password identification, if desired. The password identification maintainsidentification of individual users, maintains identifi-cation of instrument serial numbers, and recordsthe user date, time and type of gas check (bumptest or full calibration) performed. Passwords aremaintained and assigned by the system manager.

Stores All Calibration Records

The TIM System electronically stores all bumptest and calibration records. With a click of the

mouse, a drop-down screen displays all recordedcalibrations of any particular instrument by date, time, and results of each instrument calibration.

Computer Requirements

To ensure that the TIM System can be easily enhanced for years to come, it is designed tooperate on a standard Windows-compatiblepersonal computer. Minimum requirements are a Pentium processor, 16 MB RAM, a 30 MB harddrive, and a CD-ROM drive. The software iscompatible with all Windows Operating Systems

(all data can be downloaded to a network). Acomputer is required to operate the system at

each local site, but a single computer can run upto four TIM Control Centers. (TCC)

Report Capability

The TIM System’s data software includes a user-friendly archive—with both view and print capability—of all calibrations of all instrumentsthat were bump-tested or calibrated on the TIMSystem. This easy-to-use and easy-to-read reportmenu is designed with the user in mind. Whetheryou need a quick reference to any particular

instrument and its calibration results, or a complete detailed master report of all instruments, categorized and printed in hard-copy form, theTIM System offers you this capability at your fingertips.

Ergonomic Design; Loaded with Features

Designed for use where space is limited, the completely portable TCC measures only 11" x 9" x6" and weighs less than 7 pounds. The housing is.090" aluminum, painted with rugged wear-resistant epoxy paint. The unit features a slopedface panel, four non-skid mounting feet, and aneasy-to-read lighted display which facilitatesoperation in low light areas. In addition, a mem-brane-activated, alpha/numeric, panel-mountedkeyboard provides easy touch-button data entry.

Setup is a snap! In less than 15 minutes, your TIMSystem is completely operational. All necessaryconnectors and power cords are supplied. Anddon’t worry… we have designed the software sothat it’s easy to install.

Auto-Recognition Capability

This unique feature can be found only in the TIM System. Our unique auto-recognition featureeliminates the need for changing setups betweentests. The TIM System will automatically recog-nize the MSA instrument that is to be calibrated: a Passport, Gasport, Watchman, FiveStar Alarm,Solaris or Orion instrument. The TIM System automatically identifies the instrument serial number and model type, as well as the gas

Each MSA Calibration Gas Cylinder is shippedwith an individual copy of a material safety datasheet (MSDS) and an individual copy of a certifi-cate of analysis.

MSA certifies that the gas mixture in calibrationgas cylinders was prepared gravimetrically, usingNIST traceable weights. The lot number and nominal value of the gas constituents in percent

by volume, percent by mass, PPM, or volume arespecified on the cylinder. The uncertainty state-ment of the specified nominal value is also listed.

Model RP Calibration Check Kits

Model RP Check Kits consist of a regulator which includes a gauge to measure container pressure, an adapter hose, sensor adapter (where applicable), instructions, and a case with room for two Model RP cylinders ofcalibration check gas.

Gas Miser® Demand Regulator: The Intelligent Regulator

The Gas Miser Regulator is the most advanced, yet sim-ple-to-use calibration gas delivery system available. Madeof nickel-plated brass and polished aluminum (especiallyimportant for reactive gases), the Gas Miser Regulatorcan supply gas flow from 0.1 lpm to 3.0 lpm, but that’s onlythe beginning. Designed for use with any MSA Model RPCalibration Cylinder except chlorine and ammonia*, the GasMiser Regulator features an automatic ON/OFF valve thatreleases gas only on demand. Only the amount of gasneeded to calibrate your MSA instrument is deliveredaccurately. When the calibration is complete, theGas Miser Regulator shuts off automatically. And, for userconvenience, the regulator can stay connected to thecylinder where it remains in a ready state—making itideal for such fixed installations as work benches andcalibration stations.

The Gas Miser Regulator also eliminates the need to changeregulators to accommodate different instruments or flow rates. It’s not only intelligent, it’s cost-efficient. Supplied withcalibration tubing and special fitting.

* A Gas Miser Regulator for chlorine and ammonia is available for Model RP cylinders —P/N 10034391

Natural Gas Demand Regulator

This low-pressure Demand Regulator is designed tobe used with MSA Instrument Calibration Systemsto automatically supply 100% natural gas to the cal-ibrator as required. No adjustments are necessaryor provided. Like the Gas Miser Regulator, the Natural Gas Regulator featuresan automatic ON/OFF valve that releases gas only on demand. Comes com-plete with barb-type outlet fitting and easily connects to natural gas supplywith W" NPT thread. Recommended for use with pressure of 0.3 to 5.0 psig.

Gas Miser® Manifold

The Gas Miser Manifold is not only a cylinderholder but it also incorporates a 4-station “bumptest” or calibration manifold. It works with ModelRP and Econo-Cal cylinders and Gas Miser regu-lator on any pumped or aspirated instrument. Themanifold will supply the correct amount of gasrequired and will bump test or calibrate up to four instruments simultaneously. Gas Miser regulator sold separately.

Model RP Combination Regulators

Two regulators in one. Trigger activation allows abump test or calibration check in the “SQUEEZE”mode or fixed-flow calibration in the up or“LOCKED” position. Designed for use with allModel RP and Econo-Cal calibration cylinders.Supplied with calibration tubing and special fitting.

Calibration Cylinders Are Recyclable!

MSA has affiliated with the Association of Retarded Citizens, Butler County—a nonprofit organization that employs mentallyretarded citizens—and established a Cylinder Recycling Center. The calibration cylinders are not refilled, but salvaged for scrap. All money generated from selling the scrap cylinders is placed in the ARC operating fund for salaries and operating costs.

Calibration cylinders are considered hazardous unless the cylindersare empty. MSA has developed special devalving tools that willensure the cylinder is empty and render the cylinder non-fillable. For your convenience, MSA also offers a specially pre-addressedshipping box (also recyclable) which helps you pay the lowest shipping costs available.

The MSA Recycling Center limits the return of calibration cylinders to MSA-logoed cylinders only. Non-MSAcylinders will be rejected. Contact MSACustomer Service for additional detailsat 1-877-MSA-FIRE.

Fall Protection Rescue Kit

The Fall Protection Rescue Kit is designed to be an “out of the bag” rescue system. This kit combines a remote hook and extension pole with a rescue utility system. The remote hook and extension pole allows for remoteattachment of a rescue line to a victim. The Rescue Utility System allows a rescuer to raise or lower the victim to safety. This kit should be used with a back-up system (not included).

Fall Protection Rescue Kit includes:

• Adjustable Pole, 6 ft (1.8m) to 12 ft (3.6m) (P/N SFP675009)

• Pole Adapter (P/N SCE109001) converts poleto hold remote hook

• Remote Hook (P/N SRCA401) for remoteattachment

• Storage Bag (P/N SRB675009) for pole andremote hook

• Rescue Utility System (P/N SRS15200)—raising and lowering system witha 4:1 mechanical advantage

Note: Due to a 4:1 mechanical advantage, the user should order the Rescue Utility System with 4 times the length of rope necessary for their application. For example, the 200' system providesa 50' working length. A 600' system provides a 150' working length.

Static Kernmantle Ropes

These ropes are 100% permanent solution dyed color with contrastingmarker stripe. Superior flexibility andknotability, provided by a unique double-twist cable core construction, gives superior resistance to abrasionthat is up to four times greater than other static kernmantle ropes. These ropes are designed with load absorbing capabilities to provideadditional safety in the event a dynamic force is applied.

Prusik & Accessory Cords

Prusik cords have the same high quality and long wear design as rescue ropes. Size selection should be based upon diameter of themain line. The flexible cord is both strong and highly resistant toabrasion. Prusik cords and accessory cords are identical.

Rope Identification System

7/16" & 1/2" Static Kernmantle Ropes listed above will meet NFPAstandards with the addition of the Rope Identification System. Thissystem consists of a special label that carries all necessary NFPAinformation and a serial number. The serial number is attached to therope by a shrink wrap. The shrink-wrapped serial number providestraceability if the label is ever lost, so a new label can be issued. TheRope Identification System must be ordered with the rope. Pleasespecify these part numbers with your rope order if you require a ropethat meets the NFPA standard.
