STONE ISLAND SHADOW began as a discourse between Sportswear Company owner and creative director Carlo Rivetti and the design team of Michaela Sachenbacher and Errolson Hugh, also known as ACRONYM ®. A platform for exploration, the Shadow project rapidly evolved into a system based program for a new generation of urban masculine apparel. With both Stone Island’s incredible historical archive, and its unparalleled forward development resources as a starting point, ACRONYM® sought to conceive a project according to their strong technical and per-formance based roots. The result is a unique and un-precedented fusion. A fresh and intelligent new light cast upon the timeless interplay of form and function. Calling the project SHADOW underlines the intimate relationship and interaction between this work and the full body of the STONE ISLAND collection.

Pre - dawn coast. Storm systems circling. Locals only. Crepuscular color. Non-place. The sixth Stone Island Shadow capsule is an investigation of the in - be-tween. Neither day nor night, neither active nor elegant, but instead, the transition itself. A blurring of distinctions can been found throughout the collection. Asymmetric and fully ergonomic patterns are a call to motion and dynamics, as are hybrid and compo-nent constructions blending Lycra®, cottons, and performance membranes. Extreme action sports like surfi ng and motocross serve as departure points for both material and shape. Yet before arrival they have become both subtly elegant as well as technologically sophisticated. Stone Island Shadow lives at this point of tension and transition; at the boundary where one thing has the potential to become another.

Nè giorno nè notte, nè active nè elegante, ma la transizione stessa. Lo sfuocarsi delle distinzioni declinate su tutti i capi di collezione. Modellistiche asimmetriche e pienamente ergonomi-che che chiamano all’azione dinamica,come lo sono le mischie ibride e i materiali costruiti da Lycra®, cotone e membrane performanti. Sport d’azione estremi come il surf e il motocross sono spunti per materiali e forme. Ma, prima del traguardo, diventano sottilmente eleganti e tecnologicamente sofi sticati. Stone Island Shadow vive in questo stato di tensione e transizio-ne; allo stato di confi ne dove una cosa ha il costante potenziale in divenire.

STONE ISLAND SHADOW è nata da una conversazio-ne tra il presidente e direttore creativo di Sportswear Company Carlo Rivetti e l’uffi cio creativo composto da Michaela Sachenbacher e Errolson Hugh, conosciuto anche come ACRONYM®. Come una piattaforma di esplorazione, il progetto Shadow si è sviluppato rapidamente ed è diventato un programma a sistema per una nuova generazione di abbigliamento maschile urbano.
