ABOUT US

D-BAR ENTERPRISES, LLCDr. Matthew Dobbs, MD an Orthopedic Surgeon who specializes in clubfeet at St. Louis Children’s Hospital has invented a new dynamic clubfoot brace that finally addresses all of these problems. Parents of children with clubfeet everywhere are praising his new brace patented as the “Dobbs Bar.” The Dobbs Bar lets children move and kick their legs independently which gives clubfoot kids new-found freedom when it comes to crawling and being more active in the brace. Children fuss less and sleep better in the Dobbs Bar because it’s more comfortable and less restrictive. The independent movement prevents heel ulcers and keeps the kids from pulling out of the booties. The results are happier parents, happier kids and improved compliance.

Children can kick and move their legs indepen-dently so they can crawl and be more active.

The independent move-ment and mobility of the brace minimizes the escape potential of the child pulling out of the booties.Increased brace compli-ance reduces the risk of relapse.2

Figure B. Take your measurement from the silver or black screws that holds the external rotation.

Figure A.Using a Phillips Screw-driver loosen both screws enough to slide the bars apart.

Easy Guide For The Correct Fit When fitting your child in the Dobbs Bar you want to make sure that the width of the bar is set cor-rectly. To figure out exactly how long the bar should be you will need to know the child’s shoulder width measurement. After this measurement is obtained you will need to adjust the length of the brace by loosening the Phillips head screws shown in figure A. The distance between screws located on the bottom of each foot pedal show in the figure B should be proportionate to the child’s shoulder

USING THE QUICK RELEASE FEATUREOnce the footplates are attached to the shoes, place the black footplate on the red “Y”, so the clips on the red “Y” fit into the corresponding channels on the black footplate shows in figure C. Then slide the black foot-plate forward to engage the spring plunger and lock the shoes in place. To release the shoes, pull back on the spring-loaded plunger while pushing the shoes plate backwards towards the child’s heel shown in figure D.

The Original Dobbs Clubfoot Bar breaks away from traditional clubfoot bracing. A new dynamic brace allows active movement, preserves muscle strength in the foot and ankle. This new revolution in clubfoot treatment has resulted in significantly improved compliance and fewer complications than the traditional bracing. In a recent study 95 percent of parents used the Dobbs Bar as prescribed, compared to 60 percent compliance with traditional bracing.

• Easily set and lock the external rotation with the turn of a thumbscrew.• Rugged design allows for strenuous use.

• Independent motion makes it hard-er to pull out of shoes and reduces irritation.

• Children sleep better in the Dobbs Bar because they can get comfort-able. Children can sleep with one leg straight and the other bent, which will reduce stress on the child’s knees.

Now it is easier than ever to get a child in and out of his or her clubfoot brace. Just put the open-toe shoes on the child’s feet and click them into place on the “Quick Release Dobbs Bar”. These models incorporate a spring reset that brings the child’s feet back to neutral in a resting position. The spring also maintains an ac-tive dorsiflexion stretch while still allowing the child to play and crawl.

Imitating its successor the “Quick Release Dobbs Bar” the “Spring Assisted Dobbs Clubfoot Bar” for Ponseti AFO’s / Sandals provides a dynamic stretch on the calf allowing patients to build calf muscles strength while moving and paying in the brace which helps mitigate the calf atrophy commonly seen in clubfoot.

• MD Orthopaedics Quick release mechanism allows Ponseti AFO’s to slide on and off for diapering, car seats, and high chairs.

To be complaint with tradition bracing we offer a universal alternative. Unlike traditional clubfoot braces, the “Easy Click” allows the use of any shoe attachment readily available. This curved clubfoot bar was designed to allow the user to add 10 degrees of dorsiflexion, without manipulating the cosmetics of the bar itself. The “Easy Click” implements the commonly known “D-Bar Quick Release Feature”, that will allow the shoes to be easily disconnected and reattached without taking the child’s shoes off.
