RICHARD FRINIER

Internationally acclaimed and award-winning designer Richard Frinier is best known for his indoor/outdoor furniture and textile designs with an emphasis on the resort-at-home and ultra-luxe resort experience. For more than 30 years, he has designed thousands of creations across hundreds of collections garnering over 85 global design excellence and career achievement awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award from the International Casual Furnishings Association and a Stars of Design Award from the design community through the Pacific Design Center in Los Angeles. His creations are specified for royal palaces, resorts, spas and private residences around the world.

Having journeyed to more than 40 countries across five continents, a unique travel-inspired perspective may be seen in his authentic, relevant and memorable designs. His latest textile creations for Sunbrella® available exclusively through Pindler are no exception in The Exclusive Caravan Collection, where he drew inspiration from an extended stay in Morocco.

“Throughout all of my world travels thus far, my most memorable and impressionable adventure was my time in Morocco,” said Frinier. Adding, “The iconic designs represented in Moroccan rugs were of particular interest and inspiration having discovered that many were vintage creations originally woven by the Beni Ourain tribes in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco dating back several centuries.”

The Exclusive Caravan Collection authentically captures the neutral hues and unexpected accent colors, including shades of sand, camel, brown, black, indigo and henna reflecting the culture of the region. Many of the ancient rug designs passed down through generations of weavers became popularized by Le Corbusier during the mid-century modern movement, and today, architects and designers the world over seek out this inspired pattern work to bring a classically timeless artistry and a subtle exotic touch to interior and exterior design.

The designer’s inspirations from Morocco are clearly woven into The Exclusive Caravan Collection, including textural constructions and body cloths, and authentic patterns and color work, which may be effortlessly incorporated into modern, transitional and traditionally styled residential or hospitality environments.

The Exclusive Caravan Collection includes two new base cloth constructions, Caftan and Tangier, and five decorative and coordinating patterns, Marrakesh, Bazaar, Berber, Medina, and Nomadic, each presented in authentic color palettes to create distinctive living spaces.

The lighter structure of Caftan carries characteristics of vintage, hand-woven textiles with a perfectly imperfect surface texture. Tangier presents a richly textured construction with a subtle appearance of desert sands defined by a simple stitch detail. Marrakesh, woven using the Tangier construction, is a primitive stitch pattern with a vintage appearance. Bazaar plays up the tribal Moroccan influence with a lattice pattern of abstract geometric shapes, while Berber is a small-scaled and distressed diamond pattern. The uniquely woven Medina was inspired by original, hand drawn and dyed Moroccan stripes, and Nomadic is a classic Moroccan diamond referenced in decorative flat weaves and rugs.

The Sunbrella brand.Sunbrella® is the most recognized and trusted name in performance fabrics for the Casual Furniture, Residential Furniture, Awning, Marine and Automotive markets for over fifty years.

Colorfastness.Sunbrella fibers are saturated with highly UV stable pigments.Traditional dyeing methods, such as yarn or piece dyeing, only add color to the fiber exterior. Sunbrella fabrics’ performance characteristics are an integral part of the fabric, not an applied finish that would wash off over time. Think of a carrot versus a radish.

Fade-resistant.Sunbrella fabric is unmatched in resistance to fading and the degrading effects of sunlight.

Cleanable.Mild soap cleans most common stains. Using bleach or solvents for tough stains will not affect Sunbrella fabric, but don’t try this with other fabrics.

Durable.Sunbrella fabric retains its strength after years of cleaning and weathering.

Sunbrella fabrics aredurable and easy to cleanHigh performance, UV stabilized pigments are added during the production of fade-resistant Sunbrella fiber, giving Sunbrella yarn and fabric color throughout that won’t fade or wash away. Think “carrot.”

In ordinary fabrics, dyes are added to the surface of the yarn or fabric. The color only penetrates the outer layer and washes out or fades away over time. Think “radish.”

Care and cleaningKeeping Sunbrella fabric looking its best is simple and easy.

• Use a sponge or soft brush to apply mild soap and warm water to the fabric.

• Rinse thoroughly.• Air dry.

For stubborn stains or mildew:

• Add one cup of bleach per gallon of soap and water.

• Apply directly to the stain.• Use a sponge or soft brush to clean.• Rinse thoroughly.• Air dry.• If necessary, repeat with

additional bleach.

Always rinse thoroughly. Bleach won’t harm Sunbrella fabric, but it could damage clothing if not rinsed away.

Sunbrella fabric air dries very quickly. Machine drying is unnecessary and high heat may damage the fabric.
