From leaf 1—39. The supreme overcomer (or subduer) of the great thousand (worlds). Reverence be to Buddha and to all Bodhisatwas. Delivered by CHOM-DA'N-DA'S (SHA'KYA) at Rdjagriha, (Tib. ~Rgyal-pohi-khdb), on the southern side of the Gridhra leuta parvata, before 1250 Gelongs. A l l sorts of gods and demons repair to CHOM-DA'N-DA'S (especially BRAHMA', INDRA, and the four guardians of the world, on the Ri-rab, leaves 139, 140) to hear his instruction on the deliverance from pain. He gives them several instructions. They take refuge with the seven Buddhas. There are several praises of Buddha expressed by these divinities, as also there are some mantras. 2. Sans. NOTE.—There are many repetitions i n the whole volume. The translation of many of the

works is attributed to the celebrated translators i n the n inth century, as, JINA-MITRA, D A ' N A -

SHILA, SURENDRA BODHI, P R A J N A ' V A R M A , &C. and BANDE' Y E ' S I I / S - S D E ' ; but, I th ink they

had no part in the translation of several of them, judging from the contents of these works, and
