To my parish family, As I announced last weekend, after much prayer, I have accepted a posi-tion at another parish in our Diocese and will be leaving Christ the King on June 8, 2014. Christ the King Parish has been my home for over 25 years. It has truly been a privilege to be part of this parish community for so long. Many of my col-leagues have asked how I can stay at one parish for so long, and my answer has always been the same: I love the people. You have been part of my ex-tended family for the majority of my life. As with any major change in ones life, there are moments of joy and moments of sadness. It was not easy, but I truly believe that the Holy Spirit was with me when I made this decision. Thank you for letting me be part of your lives. With Sincerest Gratitude, Bill Runge

Reflecting on Gods Word Over the years several television shows have focused on rebuilding and reshaping houses. For over thirty years PBSs This Old House has offered tips on re-pairing homes. More recently, Extreme Makeover takes a team into someones home and transforms it to meet the serious needs of its occupants, often deal-ing with health or disability issues or trying to serve the larger community in some way. From the beginning the church has been imagined as a house of living stones, built on Jesus Christ, a dwelling place where people come for shelter and sustenance, where they can set down their burdens and find comfort and consolation before being sent back out in the world to make it a better place to live. The risen Christ is truly one who offers an extreme makeover. He can be trusted to shape us into a dwelling place where the Spirit of the Lord takes up permanent residence, bringing gifts to benefit the world. From the beginning there have been chal-lenges for those who form the church, and an ongoing need for renovation to meet the needs of the time. Our efforts to make the church a home where love, mercy, justice, and peace will be found should lead us to build more firmly on Jesus our cornerstone. When the time comes, the home he promised to prepare for us and take us to should be easily recognizable. It should not be that much different from the church we have been living in all our lives. ~ James A. Wallace, C.Ss.R. Copyright 2013, World Library Publications. All rights re-served.

Celebrate the Past Praying in thanksgiving for the Preset, Guidance for our future Dear Parishioners, I am a member of our Parish Transition Committee. We are a group of parishioners, like you, who are plan-ning Father Peters 25th Anniversary Mass reception on June 6th. We are also planning a Hospitality Reception for Saturday and Sunday, June 7th and 8th to conclude his twelve years as pastor.

I hope you all will join us at these events. Here are some of the things we are working on a program booklet with Mass readings, songs and prayers. In this booklet, there will be a biography of Father Peter and a list of his accomplishments while he served as our pas-tor. As you have already seen there are a series of bulletin articles published every week as reminders for you.

Our PLC will be decorated beautifully for the anniver-sary mass reception. I would invite you to bring along your best appetizers and perhaps a bottle of wine when you come to the reception on June 6th. Please contact Elaine Ward at [email protected].

Saturday and Sunday (6/7 and 6/8) when you come to Mass please bring along a favorite cookie, cake or some other goodie that you are famous for baking and know Father likes to the P0arish Life Center. Mary Maderak and her team will be hosting the hospitality that weekend. If you are able to lend us a hand setting up and serving and with cleanup, please contact Mary with your name and time you can help630-620-6478many hands make light the work and we appre-ciate your time and talent as Father has said so many times. After greeting Father to wish him well, be sure to sign his spiritual bouquet poster.

Our committee is also planning a hospitality weekend for June 21 and 22 to welcome Father Jeff. May I ask you again to bring your fantastic baked goodies to the Masses this weekend and for your time helping serve and clean-up.

In the weeks that follow, our committee has planned a series of phone calls (robo calls) informing you of peo-ple you can contact should you need anything before Father Jeff arrives as well as information on parishioner town hall meetings to help you with your transition to another pastor. Please note we will have priests saying daily and weekend Masses. Many of us have some mixed emotions at this time and questions, so we are hoping these meetings will help you. If you do have any questions or needs, please feel free to contact the rectory. Continue to pray for Father Peter and Father Jeff in their transition. God Bless, Janet Sipolt

Dear family at Christ the King Church,

In this great season of Easter, we are again reminded of the divine love that so wished to empty itself upon humanity by means of our Lords passion, death, and resurrection. We might ask ourselves, why all this drama in the process of salva-tion? Because it is the most genuine way for God to show us what he meant by I love you! But this love has kept a promise - that God would always be with us. We know this promise is fulfilled in our Eucharistic Liturgy, when the presence of our God is given to us in the form of a meal. But this great season also births another element to this promise, that is, the ordination of deacons and priests to become ministers of the body of Christ, the Church throughout the ages. In line with this season, its my great joy to announce to you that your own little brother is going to be ordained a priest of Jesus Christ this coming May 17th at Holy Name Cathedral. I cannot be more thrilled, though I anticipate that this thrill will also let in a fiber of fear and trembling. Fear, in the sense that committed love always requires a healthy sense of vigilance and attention. It is the awesome responsibility of stewardship that can make a man tremble before God, and the priestly stewardship is that of the most precious kind a stewardship over the flock of Jesus Christ. While I do admit to so many shortcomings, I also realize that a transforma-tive grace is at work in us. Through our baptism, we received the promise of the comfort and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, and this promise never fails; it leads us through that great Christian adventure we call vocation. I trust in this transformative power, and so do my brother deacons who will soon be priests with me. This same power is at work in you. Perhaps if we were to look back, and I mean really look back, just a few years and look at the progress of our lives, we would find clear traces of the divine at work in our lives. After five years of seminary, I never thought I would be able to look back and say, it is accomplished! But the time has come for priestly ordination, and the length of those years in the seminary no longer seems so intimidating. As such, it is natural that transitions like this should be both bitter and sweet. Bitter, because having to say goodbye even to an old way of living can be difficult, but sweet, because it is the Lord of yesterday, today, and forever, who is guiding this new adventure in life. Overall, I am thankful foremost because the Lord loves us all so very much, and second because this love has led me to where I am in my life and vocation. I am thankful to God for the life He has breathed into me through my parents; the new life He washed me with through my baptism; the people who have and continue to charm my existence with the blessings of friendship; and for the sustenance of my faith through a daily nourishment of the Holy Eucharist, which is the very center and source of all the goodly things of my life. I in turn, now, wish to be both brother and priest to all of you; I who am mostly a son and a servant in reality. But for the sake of Christ and His Kingdom of love, I choose to answer the call to this mysterious fatherhood of the presbyterate so that I may stand with all our friends in the communion of heaven dur-ing our Sunday Liturgies and offer to God your heartaches and joys and in turn offer to you from God His very own life. There, on the border of the sanctuary and the nave, I hope to see you in order that I may hand over to you the sus-tenance of the divine life that is contained in the Eucharistic sacrifice. Nothing comforts me more than to realize how privileged I will soon be to be called your servant in Christ Jesus. Pray that I may live up to the title. Nothing in life is worth living unless it is lived for the other, because the law of life is the law of the family and that is what we are. Thank you to Fr. Peter for supporting me and my vocation since I was a teenager in high school. Thank you to all those familiar faces and words of encouragement that has sustained me for a number of years. You all know who you are and what you mean to me. I am sure I will see you all around in the near future. God bless you, and I hope you have enough wine with all the cheese I just served you in this letter. In Christ who is King, I remain always your little brother, and soon to be baby priest. Deacon Matthew Jamesson Deacon Matthew Jamesson has served Christ the King as a seminarian and as a deacon. We congratulate his family and home parish, Sacred Heart. We are proud of our native son of Lombard. Fr Peter Jarosz and Staff Congratulations to our new priest of the Diocese of Joliet, Fr Maciej Stelmach! WHIP Visit On Wednesday, May 7, Mary Ellen Clish & Sharon Pierscionek of Christ the Kings St. Joseph Table and Shirley Fitch & Kate Uhart of the SVDP Food Pantry, drove to Washing-ton, IL. We presented a $1,500 check to Washington Helps Its People food pantry. This donation was due to the generosity of the guests who attended our St. Joseph Ta-ble in March. We learned how the food pan-try in Washington works and how many peo-ple they serve. We also got a glimpse of some of the devastation from the tornado that devastated parts of the town in November, 2013. Thank you to all of the vendors, pa-rishioners, staff, and friends who supported the St. Joseph Ta-ble this year. The money we raised is going to do a lot of good!
