3 Dear parishioners and visitors,
One of the things I like doing every morning is
to go for a four-mile walk except on Sundays
when I will do two. This gives me the oppor-
tunity to get exercise early in the day so that I
don’t make excuses later when I don’t feel like
it. Once I am done, I feel good about it. The
main reason why I walk is to reduce the pain in
my knees. The side benefits are I lost @ 30
pounds and reduced my blood pressure to
where it is normal. These have all been benefi-
cial physically.
However, it helps me in other ways. I begin my
walk by praying the rosary which I enjoy re-
flec#ng upon the mysteries. Also, I use that
#me to finalize my homily especially for the
weekend. In addi#on, I formulize my to-do list
for the day and upcoming projects to be
done. Every now and then I will meditate on an
aspect of the faith so that I hope I am ge$ng
closer to know and love God. The early morning
hours are a great way to start the day when it is
quiet and peaceful.
So, if you are an early morning riser and see me
walking, you know what I am doing. I prefer to
be outside if at all possible; if not, then I am
walking on first floor in St. John School. I hope
you can find the quiet and private #me to be
with God daily too.
Thank you, and God bless you.
Msgr. Stoetzel
Announcements
It is happening more o%en that priests and I in
the diocese have had emails sent to parishion-
ers asking for money for certain projects both in
-and-out of the parish. Please note these are
scams. Any requests I make to support the par-
ish will be made through the bulle#n, mailings,
etc. If you receive an email from me that looks
suspicious, it is; trash it as soon as possible. You
will be glad and richer you did!
St. Wenceslaus Parish of Eastman will be holding their Annu-
al Homecoming & Picnic on Sunday, September 1st. A deli-
cious chicken & ham dinner will be served from 11:00 am to

MARK YOUR CALENDAR…..
Regarding the upcoming Confirmation Pro-

to have a meeting with the students and at least
one parent on Wednesday, September 4th,
2019 at 6:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall at St.
John’s. This is a mandatory meeting as there is
a lot of information to pass on and we want to
make sure everyone understands the Confirma-
tion Program and process. If students or par-
ents have any questions please contact Mary
Stoeffler.
St. John’s is in need of someone to take over the plant-
ing and care of the flowers around the rectory and in
the small pots by the church. Help will be provided to
get started and if needed during the year. Contact Mary
Prindle at (608) 306-2015 or email her at:

Reminder: New Class of the Diocesan School
of Biblical Studies to Begin This Fall
The Diocesan School of Biblical Studies is welcoming regis-
trations for a new four-year class to begin in fall 2019. The
program joins the best of contemporary Catholic biblical
learning with a desire for spiritual growth in the Church.
With teaching locations in La Crosse and Wausau, the
School holds classes one Saturday a month for nine
months each year. Catechists, schoolteachers, permanent
deacons, parish Bible study leaders, and regular bible read-
ers looking for something “beyond the basics” will profit
from the program. A description of the full course of study
can be found at the school’s website
diocesanschoolofbiblicalstudies.weebly.com/ or by contact-
ing Fr. Mark Pierce at St. Michael’s Parish in Wausau at
