The high performance Hydril503™ Wedge Thread™ connec-tion is machined on API J-55, M-65, N-80 and L-80 EUE pipeproviding a superior sealing capa-bility and economic value.

Exceptional torque strength isdeveloped through the simultane-ous engagement of opposingflanks of the dovetail thread. Thethread flanks provide a positivetorque stop which virtually elimi-nates pin end ID restrictionscaused by over-torque.

Ideal for highly deviated,extended reach, and other applications demanding superiorrotation-while-bending capability.The dovetail Wedge Thread provides excellent performance incombined torsion, bending, andtension or compression.

Streamlined, clearance ODfacilitates running, pulling, and circulating and eliminates down-hole coupling face hang-up.

Pin face reduces stabbing damage. Minor damage to theface, which does not function as a shoulder, can be field repaired.

100% pipe body ratings for tension and bending are providedby machining pin and box on anAPI EUE upset. Connection criticalareas exceed pipe body area. Thereverse angle stab flank of thedovetail threads provides 100%compression rating.

100% pipe body collapsestrength is created with the lubri-cant seal of the dovetail threads.The threads also provide a sec-ondary internal pressure seal ratedat 100% of the pipe body.

100% rated metal-to-metal sealmaintains gas sealing capabilityunder high axial and bendingloads. The shallow angle chamferon the bored ID of the pin pro-motes uniform stress under theseal around the full circumferenceof the connection.

Hydril 503 is interchangeablewith the Hydril 533™, 553™ and563™ connections. DamagedHydril 503 connections can berecut to the non-upset threadedand coupled Hydril 563 retaininginterchangeability. Hydril 503 isnot available with the CB feature.
