50 years of solid experience

KDS is the leading member of the

KDS Business Group. The company

was founded on the basis of a state

company that started its activity

in 1964. In 1992, after privatization,

it was registered with the State

Register as stock company Kauno

dujotiekio statyba.

The company takes pride in its

50-year experience of gas and oil

pipeline, gas compressor and distri-

bution station, boiler plant con-

struction, district heating, potable

and wastewater network design and

installation and residential property

development.

KDS Business Group unites 10

companies of diverse business

profiles ranging from industrial

construction to residential devel-

opment and to recreational facil-

ities. The Group’s annual turnover

amounts to EUR 60 million and in

total there are almost 300 people

working for these companies.

KDS has expanded its activities to the residen-

tial sector and implemented several successful

apartment building projects in Vilnius and in

the resort town of Palanga. Numerous fuel

base reconstruction projects for the Lithuanian

Railways were also completed.

In cooperation with LMR Drilling GmbH, KDS

implemented the first stage of the strategic

NordBalt Submarine Cable Connection be-

tween Sweden and Lithuania, installing protec-

tive 400 kV cable casing pipes DN300 (2x800 m

and 2x1700 m). The second stage is currently

being implemented in joint cooperation with

another Lithuanian contractor and KDS is

performing land cable laying operations (a total

of 13 km of 400 kV cable within the territory of

Lithuania).

KDS utilizes its own construction and instal-

lation machinery and benefits from its huge

transportation vehicle depot: pipe-layers, ex-

cavators, earthmovers, heavy-duty trucks, off-

road and pipe transportation vehicles, welding

aggregates, compressors and pipe bending

machines, to name a few. As a result of recent

cooperation with Magnatech Pipeline Equip-

ment BV, modern automatic welding equipment

was also acquired.

When choosing materials, KDS relies upon cer-

tified manufacturers with established experi-

ence and appreciated know-how.

• Construction of the strategically

important Gas Transmission Pipeline

Klaipėda-Kuršėnai. Length: approx. 111

km, diameter: 800 mm, MOP: 5.4 MPa.

• Panevėžys Gas Distribution Station

Reconstruction. Maximum capacity:

50 000 nm³/h.

• Reconstruction of Ukmergė Boiler

Plant No. 1. The project includes

installation of a new 6,5 MW biofuel

boiler, a 1,3 MW economizer and all

other necessary equipment.

• Raseiniai Area DN250 District

Heating Supply Network

Modernization.

• Construction of three luxurious

seaside residence buildings in the

resort of Palanga.

• Installation of Water Distribution

Networks in the Towns of Ukmergė

and Anykščiai. Diameter: DN160-

DN200, total length: 40 km.

Panevėžys Gas Distribution Station Reconstruction

Girininkai Gas Distribution Station Reconstruction

Inlet pressure: 20-55 bar, outlet pressure: 10 bar,

maximum capacity: 45 000 nm³/h.

2009-2010

Jauniūnai Gas Compressor Station

The project was significant to the entire Republic of

Lithuania as the gas compressor station increased the

gas pipeline capacity in the territory of Lithuania and

enabled the full supply to the national network as well

as transit to Kaliningrad.

The main functions of the station include gas clean-

ing, gas compression and gas cooling. The station is

equipped with three compressors, 11,5 MW each. Min-

imum inlet pressure: 28 bar, maximum outlet pressure:

55 bar. Gas transfer rate: 1,3 million m³/h.

Šakiai Gas Distribution Station Reconstruction

Gas metering station expansion to 470 000 nm³/h.

Zapyškis Gas Distribution Station Reconstruction

Inlet pressure: 20-55 bar, outlet pressure: 3 bar, maxi-

mum capacity: 3000 nm³/h.

2011-2012

Vilnius Fuel Base Reconstruction

The reconstruction project was awarded by the

Lithuanian Confederation of Industrialists as the

“Product of the Year 2012”.

The old aboveground and underground fuel reservoirs

were replaced and the total number was increased to

eight: 6x83m³ reservoirs + 2 interim and fuel transfer

reservoirs. New tank-car loading and unloading units as

well as a new railway branch were constructed. A new

technological pipeline was designed and installed and so

was a new and completely automated system. Contami-

nants were removed from the soil in the area.

2012-2013

Kaunas Fuel Base Reconstruction

The old fuel bases were dismantled and replaced, four

new 80 m³ underground fuel reservoirs, a brand new

technological pipeline, new oil storage and fuel pumping

units and fully automated systems were designed and

installed.

2012-2013

Vaidotai Fuel Base Reconstruction

The old oil pumping station was dismantled; one of the

three 3000 m³ fuel reservoirs was replaced with two 1000

m³ reservoirs. A new technological pipeline and fire safe-

ty systems were designed and installed, as were the two

new railway branches. New completely automatic and

self-sufficient tank-car loading and unloading systems

and fuel pumping units were installed.

First stage of the NordBalt Submarine Cable Connection

Installation of DN300 protective cable casing pipes (two

800 m strings for the outfall and two 1700 m strings for the

lagoon crossing) which were later installed under the

Curonian lagoon via HDD.

KDS is certified by the Lithuanian Certifi-

cation Center of Building Products (SPSC),

Public Institution Technical Supervision

Service (TPT) and State Energy Inspec-

torate Under the Ministry of Energy of the

Republic of Lithuania.

In January 1997, TÜV Thüringen e.V award-

ed KDS with ISO 9001 certificate, making it

the first quality system certificate issued

to a Lithuanian construction company at

that time. ISO 9001 audits are performed

every year and this allows for constant

improvement of the quality control sys-

tem. The company is currently operating

according to ISO 9001:2008.

In 2005, the environmental man-

agement standard ISO 14001:2004

was also introduced, as were the

OHSAS 18001:2007 in 2010 and

ISO 3834-2:2005 in 2014.

Also in 2014, KDS became quali-

fied by the Scandinavian Achilles

Joint Qualification System (JQS).

In total, KDS has already constructed and reconstructed:
