Personal Introduction

My name is Tony Chin and I’m currently a working college student

attending Century College for my AAS degree in Information

Telecommunication Technology. I’m currently working at Wells Fargo

Home Mortgage as a “Loan Servicing Specialist”, but my passion is

Technology. Electronics devices such as computers, video games,

automobiles, stereo systems, flat-screen TV’s and etc. have always been

great interest to me. Especially with all the new technology coming out

such as smartphones, Droid apps, social networking websites, cloud

computing, and so much more coming out every day. I felt it’s a good time

for me to do something I can enjoy and be passionate about for the rest of

my life. Also I’m bilingual in English and Korean so I wanted to also use my

skills in a position where I can utilize my skills and knowledge I learned

here at Century to advance in career with great opportunities and

advancements.

Personal Ethics Philosophy

Ethics are very important guides to help define one’s beliefs and moral

business practices in a workplace.

Being honest and having good integrity foremost.

Will strive for technical excellence in my IT profession by maintaining

and enhancing my knowledge and skills.

Promise less, but deliver and demonstrate my full capability with all

tasks at hand.

Seek assistance guidance when faced with tasks beyond my abilities

and experience.

Respect and conduct confidentiality with private information.

Bribery and kickbacks will never be tolerated.

Never abuse my skills and power to advance personal gains.

Avoid circumstances or actions that may lead to conflicts of interest

or the perception of interests with peers.

Courteous to everyone that I have direct and indirect contact with.

IT Technical Definition

Information Technology: is "the acquisition, processing, storage and

dissemination of vocal, pictorial, textual and numerical information by a

microelectronics-based combination of computing and

telecommunications".

IT spans a wide variety of areas that include but are not limited to things

such as processes, computer software, computer hardware, programming,

and data constructs. Functions range from installing applications to

designing complex computer networks and information databases. A few of

the duties that IT professionals perform may include data management,

networking, engineering computer hardware, database and software

design, as well as management and administration of entire systems.

Information technology is also starting to spread farther than the

conventional personal computer and network technology, and more into

integrations of other technologies such as the use of cell phones,

televisions, automobiles, multi-media and etc.

Work Environment

IT work environments are generally clean, comfortable offices. Long hours

are common, and some may have to work evenings and weekends to meet

deadlines or solve unexpected problems. Some computer and information

systems professionals may experience considerable pressure in meeting

technical goals with short deadlines or tight budgets. As networks continue

to expand and more work is done remotely, computer and information

systems professionals have to communicate with and oversee offsite

employees using laptops, e-mail, and the Internet. Many work about 40

hours a week, but some work more than 50 hours a week. Some analysts

telecommute, using computers to work from remote locations.

Educational Objectives

A lot of companies these days are requiring more than just an associate or

trade school degree for decent position. My personal view on these

objectives is that it should be smart, specific, effective and measurable.

Should also match the assessments required to obtain great career of

choice. My personal plans are the following:

AAS degree in Information Telecommunication and Technology

BS degree in Information Technology Management

CISCO Certifications:

o CCNA

o CCNP

o CCIE

CISSP

SANs

VoIP

Career Objectives

advancement.

• Being focused on delivering real measurable results while still

maintaining a friendly and respectful work environment.

• Work environments where trust and team work are important to

complete various projects.

Workplace where I need to learn new skills, keep up with modern

technology, to solve problems creatively and grow with.

Personal Financial Planning Goals

Projected Growth of Industry / Geographic

Employment for IT is expected to grow by 20 percent from 2008 to 2018,

which is much faster than the average for all occupations. Demand for

these workers will increase as organizations continue to adopt and

integrate increasingly sophisticated technologies and as the need for

information security grows.

As information technology becomes an increasingly important aspect of the

business environment, the demand for computer networking, Internet, and

intranet functions will drive demand for computer systems analysts. The

increasing adoption of the wireless Internet, known as WiFi, and of

personal mobile computers has created a need for new systems that can

integrate these technologies into existing networks. Explosive growth in

these areas is expected to fuel demand for analysts who are

knowledgeable about systems development and integration. In addition, as

sensitive data continues to be transmitted and stored electronically, the

need for information security specialists is expected to grow rapidly.

Furthermore, the healthcare industry is expected to increase its use of

information technology and will demand the services of this occupation.

The adoption of e-prescribing, electronic health records, and other IT

platforms will drive this trend, creating a large number of new jobs.

As with other information technology jobs, employment growth may be

tempered somewhat by offshoring. Firms may look to cut costs by shifting

operations to foreign countries with lower prevailing wages and highly

skilled workers. However, due to the high level of expertise that is required,

as well as the frequent need to be near the job site, systems analysts are

less likely to be offshored than other IT occupations.

Job prospects. Job prospects should be excellent. Job openings will occur

as a result of strong job and from the need to replace workers who move

into other occupations or who leave the labor force.
